Reading Keano's account of his time at Sunderland and loved his reaction to players asking him what the shopping was like for their wives. Basically described them as 'weak, soft, hen pecked and of limited character' so he didn't want them. You see it everywhere blokes been dragged around the shops at the weekend against their will. There is no better feeling than walking over the bridge towards the game after seeing examples of these goons been dragged against their will into Dorothy Austins or Ethel Perkins et cetera. Dunno what this post is about really I'm just rambling.
I loved Roy's no **** attitude on players. That was until i learned he could only drag his own arse into training 2 or 3 times a week and even then often he didn't even watch the players train let alone hold a session. That exposed him as a lazy half arsed hypocrite to me. With Poalo, his set standards are matched by his commitment to the job and too the players. He's putting in the work to put himself in the position to set these high standards of professionalism from the players.
I'd love to see every football manager take the same stance as Paulo to stamp out this player power and petulance we see far too often. No other job in the world would offer so much protection and mollycoddling to employees exhibiting the attitudes certain footballers.
well put. i loved keano's fire in the belly approach, until i gathered he didn't really walk the walk ala PDC.
