    Eye up peeps,

Ellands back!!! Sorry about yesterday. Got into the office at 7.30am, and went straight into a lonnnnggggg meeting...

Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has bought a 50% stake in the Blunts.... Why would he do that when he could have purchased some of Leeds Utd. Can anyone see what the pulling power of Sheffield Utd would be??? I could have appreciated it, if Bates was still at the helm, but he's not. Thoughts?

Was the transfer window successful for Leeds Utd or not. We kept hold of all our star players, and bought in some good youngsters, but nobody of huge note, especially when you compare the likes of QPR. Is that a fair comparable???

After our first loss of the season, has that changed your mind about where you see Leeds finishing come May??

Morning all. Another one of these damn international weeks. Hate them and especially after the qpr performance in our last game, leaving us with two weeks to lick our wounds. Transfer window about as successful as a mid table championship team that are skint could be. I've already said this but gfh can't bring us much further so the sooner we get a proper investor the better. It's a joke the blunts could attract that guy and we can't. Maybe our new owners aren't all that easy to deal with being bankers and all that.

Apparently this prince did have a look at leeds whilst Bates was there and then did one. Now GFH have it we don't know what relationship the bank has with Suadi and the royal family. Remember that a lot of the trouble in the middle east is along tribal lines. Not sure where GFH sit in relationship to Suni ......

getting beat wasn't unexpected as the chasm between the 2 squads is huge, but we kept it to 1 goal. The transfer window was a damp squib again for us, although we try and console ourselves that we got Ross to sign a 4-year deal and didn't sell anyone we wanted to keep. We didn't sell anyone we wanted to get rid of neither which probably makes things worse.

Morning Rob, I was reading another forums post, it indicated that we paid 1m for Wooton. Don't believe that in a million years. If we had splashed the cash, the hierarchy would be shouting it from the rafters. Wasn't Wooton's contract up?

Elland from what i've heard, the total cost for Wootton will be just short of £1m. he had plenty of contract time left, but was struggling to make the breakthrough. Moyes wants his defence set up differently and with having Smalling, Junes, The NI kid, Rio, and Vidic, he has a lot of quality. Thats why brown and o'shea went too. look at what Moyes is doing with the left back position as he tries to move Evra onto the wing? So different ideas and wootton was told he would struggle to get into the first team now, so accepted that if an offer came in he would consider it.

Morning all. SSN confirmed that Wooten cost us about £1m. We've got Murphy as well, AND we kept both Byram and Ross. All in all, not a bad wndow. I actually think we're building a good side. Mowatt will more than give Murphy a run for his money and BMD will have the sort of headache a manager likes - How do I play both Mowatt and Murphy without unbalancing the team? Mowatt looks a fair size for a kid. Any chance he could play alongside Austin ain a defensiveish role? If Dawson can bulk up a bit and be loaned out to get game time, he could really push on next season. The days of us having to sell our youth and our best players for anything less than silly money are over.

Feel sorry for Sheff. Utd and those living round Brammell Lane. Don't think I'd want a Mosque and a 5am call to prayer as well as the pitch being moved so that it faces east!!! Imagine the Manager having to learn Arabic and lead the half time call to prayer as they look to come back from a 3-0 defeat. Feel sorry for the dietician knowing that players won't be able to drink during Ramadan which could be part way through the season. Thank 'eavens we've only got GFH!!!

Are you convinced Byram would be still with us if he wasnt injured cos Im not. No club in their right mind was going to make an offer for a player with an injury no one could put a timescale on or say if surgery required to fix it. If GFH are still in charge next umber and haven't got substantial investment, Byram will be out the door. Make no mistake about that. Another reason why this season should be about a serious promotion push rather than consolidation while we still have him. It maddens me to see fans already settling for play off positions at best after a handful of games

I've read this in a number of places now. Didn't realise but now I do actually believe it, not that thats a bad thing as he has looked worth it so far.

And on the saudi guy, I just posted my views on huge investment on another thread.

Also something that I found very interesting on the QPR board. This is a list of the teams in order of valuations (valuations taken from transfermarkt.co.uk so will be slightly innacurate)

    1. QPR- 61.5M
    2. Wigan-56.5M
    3. Blackburn-37.5M
    4. Bolton-36.5M
    5. Reading-31M
    6. Forrest-27M
    7. Leicester-25.5M
    8. Watford-24M
    9. Brighton-22M
    10. Middlesboro-21.5M
    11. Leeds-18.5M
    12. Blackpool-18M
    13. Burnley-16.5M
    14. Derby-15.5M
    15. Millwall-14.5M
    16. Birmingham-13M
    17. Huddersfield-12M
    18. Barnsley-10.5M
    19. Ipswich-10.5M
    20. Sheffield Wed-10.5M
    21. Charlton-9.9M
    22. Bournemouth- 9.2M
    23. Doncaster-7.3M
    24. Yeovil-7.3M

That puts us 11th, how close do we think that'll be to the actual table?

    Morning all.

Regards Wootton my understanding is that he was on a standard rolling 1 month contract at MU. So we could have gone to tribunal if a fee could not be agreed.

The package we agreed is worth up to 1 million plus a sell on clause. The chances are he will stay with us until he is 24 then sign for a Premiership team on a bigger contract. Looking at the way he moved East all his career that will be Newcastle.

Josh I reckon that list is about accurate mate, and we may do better than expected but not hit the top 6. We may also fall outside that by a couple too as teams like Ipswich, Burnley and Blackpool may outperform and go above us. To be fair Burnley and Blackpool already have. Hudds are also likely to outperform expectations because Vaughn is free scoring

Maybe we are a cursed club and Don Revie was right. TBF to the Blades they have got a history so I can't slag them over that. Transfer day was an expected damp squid, we kept Ross which is great, but one man doesn't make a successful club, we also kept Byram who was injured through most of the window and is only coming back now, so he wasn't really an option to buy. Hopefully when he is back he'll have a good 2nd season. I'd have loved to have been at the meeting with Maccer when Gfh were selling the club to him. A few porkies were told I'd guess. As for losing to Qpr, it's been on the cards in nearly all our games, where we could have lost.. another long hard season ahead. If we made the play offs that would be a good season..

I'd also heard he was on a rolling 1 month contract and was free to Leave man u the only reason we paid at all is because of his age

Eire..as fans we were dammed for being too optimistic, bordering on arrogance to some and dammed for being pessimistic. I would say a lot of supporters are just being realistic. There are a handful of good players at the club, but IMO we aren't good enough to get out of this league, yet. Hope I'm proved wrong..<ok>

Id imagine the meeting mentioned pending investment just around the corner, a bit like Warnock was told. Probably no reason for McD to doubt it and to be fair GFh probably believed it themselves. I get the feeling they thought once Bates was gone, there would be a mad flurry to invest but hasnt quite worked out

AIDE my understanding was he was on a months contract so why pay £1m I don't believe it perhaps if hes sold for 10m then we have to pay them a million .Lets hope we can get what we want in the loan market lets hope we shop at Aldi and not Waitrose we need some bargains
