Can you imagine that? We could have fun guessing how many moans it takes him to get the tin-tac though.
Ferrari will replace Massa, but not elect Kimi, they need a youngest second driver. Possibly they will take Bianchi or Di Resta. Latest drivers line-up= http://thisisf1.com/2014-f1-driver-line/
Based on Ferrari in the past, moving Bianchi to the main team would be too much too soon for him, however they might give him a season somewhere else (their old buddies in Sauber, for instance). However, that would give Sauber an incredibly inexperienced team and they might not be as happy about that proposition. It also makes little sense for Ferrari to take on Hulkenberg if they do intend to replace him with Bianchi in a couple of years - they tend to make long-term appointments. The only reason Ferrari have to take Hulkenberg is if they want him to replace Alonso - which would essentially mean them giving up on the possibility of enticing Vettel and Newey to the team.
Interesting piece of information from Benson about why Red Bull might have decided against Raikkonen: He also reveals that Ricciardo is FAST!
Benson has been known to pull numbers out of his arse But I have heard he was at times quicker than Seb in the simulator by a tenth and a half at certain tracks in qualifying. Though will that be the same come in reality is a different matter all together. Though both should be more worried about CARLOS SAINZ JNR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By his numbers he is 0.3-0.5 a lap faster than Daniel!
Sauber will not be taking up the option of another year with Frijns as reserve driver. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/109642 Sounds like a combination of finance issues and the need to prep Sirotkin for driving next year. He seems rather to have got caught up in Sauber's issues, which is a shame and not what he deserves after winning FR3.5 last year. I think he'll probably get a drive at the YDT at the end of the year though.
A real shame I'm sure Peter Sauber will be unhappy about this being the future for Sauber, for so long he prided himself on giving young talent a chance to succeed based solely on their driving ability. Now they are just desperate for cash from both drivers it seems.
young Kimi seemed very quick, but new Kimi seems more consitent than anything else. However it is slightly unfair to compare him to Alonso, Massa's performance levels have clearly dropped, and Grosjean was much younger coming into a season in a difficult car
Last we heard from the teams 20 races was the absolute limit they would be willing to tolerate, so I guess now we wait... Only a week between Russia and Abu Dhabi seems a bit tight, Google Maps reckons 43 hours' drive over land, so I wonder if one of those two might be at risk / need to change.
I think the best thing about this is the spacing between races. We're back to good old-fashioned one race per two weeks with back-to-back races and three week breaks much less common (especially in the first part of the year). Also, no three week break on the return to Europe.
FA ‏@joseluisf1 According to Gazzetta, Massa would be out of Ferrari, but Alonso wants to keep him and in Maranello they want to avoid tensions At Ferrari would have only Hülkenberg and Kimi as potential substitutes for Massa if finally the team decides not to renew Massa's contract please log in to view this image
