I am not Rose's biggest fan but he hasn't really put a foot wrong apart from the goal at the weekend this season so far. Let's see how he does in the next 5-10 games before passing judgement on his ability - we may just be pleasantly surprised. Well I hope so anyway <laugh>

Have you read his quotes? Something about there being something missing at Roma and it being right time.

You mean just like the Ozil quotes where he said something was missing at Madrid and upon talking to Wenger it was obvious he could get what he needed at Arsenal? Yet people still say he didn't want out of Madrid.

Oh and im not saying whether he did or didn't want to leave, just that players tend to come out with the right quotes for the fans :p

I think the difference between Ozil and Lamela leaving their respected clubs is Ozil would never have been sold if Madrid didn't sign Bale. We signed Lamela by meeting his buy out clause and the player then chose to join and then supposedly stated things were missing at Roma.

End of the day though it's pretty irrelevant on a players reasoning to join a club in my opinion. Arsenal bid and signed Ozil, we bid and signed 7 players, their reasons for leaving won't matter as long as they do the business (hopefully Ozil flops :D).

Arsenal made two mistakes in the summer window:
1.) Gazidis mouthing off about having money to spend put added pressure on Wenger to spend big on someone, anyone, which led to the farcical negotiations for Higuain and Suarez, and there's now going to be tabloid hacks waiting to use Ozil's price tag as a stick to beat him with should he have a run of indifferent performances
2.) They needed to sign a first-choice keeper - they were heavily linked to Julio Cesar, plus there were rumours about Iker Casillas and Kiko Casilla as well as an insultingly low bid for Vicente Guaita (they offered £3m, Valencia wanted £17m) - instead they loaned in Viviano as competition for Szczesny with the option to buy

I think the vast majority of Arsenal fans who watch the team week in, week out would disagree with you on point 2. Most of us wanted a keeper to come in to give Sczc competition and keep him on his toes to avoid him getting overly confident and having a dip in form like he didlast season. A first choice keeper was definately not our biggest need this transfer window....

Arsenal fans who go to matches week-in, week-out also disagree with PISKIE on a wide range of subjects.

...he's still banned from our board, right?

I'm not the one saying Ozil didn't want to leave. He looked pretty pissed off at being subbed the other week

Wtf has PISKIE got to do with most of our fans not thinking a first choice GK was our most pressing need this transfer window?

Totally random reply to my post rofl

Quite simple - if PISKIE says that Szczesny should be your #1 for the next five years, sign at least three goalkeepers at the earliest opportunity.

I'm not talking about PISKIE at all and haven't brought him up. I have no idea what his individual view on our GK is or what personal problem you have with him to randomly bring him up.

The fact remains that the majority of Arsenal fans who watch the team week in, week out would disagree with you that the GK was our main need for strengthening.

I take it you don;t visit the Arsenal board then? You'd pretty quickly discover why PISKIE is hated by fans of the following clubs: Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd...

Just because you say the GK isn't your main area that needs strengthening doesn't mean that you don't need a new keeper, as you quite clearly do - you've been missing a top keeper since Seaman, with the various keepers brought in since (Richard Wright, Lehmann, Almunia, Fabianski, Szczesny) all performing below expectations, some lower than others.

Lehmann was absolutely epic for us... fantastic keeper. No idea how you can possibly put him in a list of failed GK's when he was part of the Invincibles... Infact he played ever single game in that campaign.

Sczc is a great young keeper and provided we make sure he has competition for his spot i have evry bit of faith that he will be one of the best in the league. With young keepers they will always have the odd dip in form, look at Hart. But that doesn't mean he isn't a top keeper.

Stephane Guivarc'h started the majority of France's games in the 1998 World Cup, that doesn't make him a better striker by osmosis.

Difference is Sczc has never been great or one of the best in the league. At best he's probably top 10 in the Premier League but no higher. If Arsenal want to win things they need a better GK, IMO.

Chelsea have a better player out on loan. So do Liverpool, arguably.
