Reports circulating today are saying Connors signing for Boro on loan at the end of the month. Hope this is true so the lad can go and get some game time.

Lets be honest hes out of his depth in the Prem at the moment, and he seriously needs to drop down a level and get some games. Luckily he still has age on his side.
We all have high hopes for the lad, even more so considering we paid 8m for him. Liverpool paid 7m for Sturridge and Villa 6m for Benteke, so that puts it into perspective!

Comparing those three, we've shot ourselves in the knackers paying £8m. Can't say I have high hopes for him.I'll stick my head on the block and say he hasn't got what it takes.

Think I said a loan spell at Boro would be good for him last season? He doesn't need to relocate and in sour puss he will have a decent manager of youth players. Mowbray gets on my tits but I actually think he is a decent championship manager/coach.

He has always flattered to deceive whenever I have seen him.

Can't recall ever seeing him have a good game for us?

Let's also not forget that when he comes back of a season long loan, he will be in the last year of his contract. I doubt he will sign another and he will be off in two year's time for diddly zip.......... nice one Bruce.

£8m+ add ons for Connor Whickham is an absolutle joke. I think he has the physical attributes to make it, but for me I don't see the intelligence there to make it big. I think he believes he is far better than he is (his transfer fee will have a lot to do with that) and you can see by his slow movement around that pitch that he thinks he has the touch of Bebatov. He thinks he's a Rolls Royce of a footballer when in fact, he's more of a Yaris, unspectacular in every way (I should know, I drive one...... a Yaris that is, not a Rolls Royce, or Connor Whickham).

Because we'd already used our two domestic loans by the time Chelsea made him available. Just rotten luck.

I think Wickham has looked pretty strong in the games that I have seen him, scoring two goals in one of them, so in my opinion sending him on loan would be a mistake..

And considering what Liverpool paid for Carroll, or Villa paid for Bent, we got a bargain ....... you can't get it right every time,

My point, I suppose, is that Liverpool got it totally wrong with one striker and right with another.

We got it right with Fletcher and wrong, so far, with Wickham.

Spose it's just pot luck sometimes ...........

I do think Wickham is the kind of player who'll get a lot better with age. His hold up play, decision making and awareness need to improve dramatically and there's a good chance they will. However, as of today he's looked piss poor, no getting away from it. He's looked slow, dumb, clumbsy and for a big lad useless with his head. I think people got carried away due to that 1 goal he scored for Ipswich where he takes the ball from his own half beats a couple a players and slots it into the net. Regrettably people overlooked that his general play was still horrible

Wickham well never be a good FOOTBALLER.

Love the he is only 20 bit.
If he was any good he would be a first team regular.
3 managers have looked at him and thought he wasn't good enough for the first team, PDC had no option but to play him with others injured. All that last game proved to me was what I have seen from the start, a big lad that flatters to deceive. He always looks so ponderous.

We bought him two years ago as a prospect!!!!!

What the **** is Sunderland doing, spending 8 million on a ****ing prospect?
The big clubs can do it as they have the money and squads to cope with it.

We can't, we need players that if they come on big money need to slot straight into the team.
The money wasted on him when we were still short of quality all over the pitch, to me was obscene.

I said at the time we should be going for proven players not taking chances.
I even mentioned a lad at the time, I had seen and liked a lot, name of Benteke, I wonder what happened to him?
