Tobes, Remember, Sturridge hasn't played a whole season for us. Yeh! Rafa wanted Barry but how many years ago was that? The City supporters I know all says he's as slow as a snail and has the turning circle of a tanker.
Barry's become a bit of a journeyman despite promising beginnings. He'll be solid for you. Thought £13-15mill for McCarthy was fairly steep, had a great game in the cup final but can he do it consistently and make the step up. But McCarthy is to Martinez as Allen is to Rodgers.
Kone is not at the level of Sturridge Dave, I was just making the point to counter MITO's dismissive nonsense. Barry was never quick & he's still a year younger than Gerrard btw....so writing him off now is daft. Blue Moon appear gutted he's gone.
In the sense that he's never really lived up to early hype and hit the heights as a player. Always get the feeling around him of what could've been.
Question...... with FFP seemingly being talk, what about the homegrown quota? Thought that was a big reason City reached out for barry, lescott, Milner, Sinclair, Johnson, etc...
Still present. Richards, Hart, Milner, Lescott, Rodwell. Cliche applies to. And most importantly.... RICHARD WRIGHT. Bloody Richard Wright. Why else would they sign him?
Ok, part of me thought that was why we had gone for Carroll, Hendo, Adam, Downing, etc when Kenny was blowing money fast.
the HG thing IMO is blown.... the prem squad is pointless and europe just needs you to manage your bench.
I think Lukaku might put Everton into the mix... partially because I think it's going to be off year for everyone. United seemed to move nowhere this summer... Moyes doesn't have the magic Fergie did at United. (As bad as we played 2nd half Fergie would have got a point(s)). Think this will be a rare off year for United and Moyes. City should work wonders but don't look impressive yet. Similarly, I'm not sure what the special one is playing at... his attacking policy is questionable. Still think Maureen will take title. Spurs have done a QPR and tried to build a new squad over the summer. Worked for QPR They do seem to be managing it though. They could finish anywhere from 1st to 6th... big unknown. Arsenal is still looking like an also-ran. We've improved but still not title-squashing by any means. 4th will be golden. Everton COULD end up in the mix... partially because everyone else looks shakey. Jose should have kept Lukaku... but its his way to get people at or past their peak rather than look at progressing talent. Jose only has eyes for today... not tomorrow... he is the anti-Rafa. Good thing he keeps moving... he'd destroy a club long-term.
