My tuppence ha'penny, for what it's worth. The fact that Sess was our most individually talented player and now he's gone doesn't worry me as much as I thought it would. Watching the first half against Palace, I didn't think "what we need is for Sess to turn it on". What I actually thought was "what we need is some ****ing outfield players who can actually string a few passes together". There's a difference. I liked Sess in the way I liked Larsson. Both basically good players with a real talent. Sess for taking defenders on and making something happen. Larsson for his dead ball skills and passing. Frankly, both have been pretty poor at both for a while and if both had gone through the door I would have been perfectly content. We have taken on board some decent talent in this window and now it's a case of making the players work together cohesively, not about hanging on to player A or signing player B. The fact of the matter is that our schedule means we'll be bottom three in a month's time, before we will start to climb out of the hole as the team starts to gel. Might as well get used to the idea...
Sid, your tuppence ha'penny is always worth a read mate. I agree with this as well but I'd say if we are bottom 3 in a months time and struggling AND PDC has still not learned to keep his public outbursts under control, then he will come under immense pressure from all quarters. How he handles that pressure is still my concern but we have a whole new team of players in now and hopefully plenty of options to help us pull clear. Its all about the manager now the transfer window is closed so nowhere to hide as they say?
Well, in three months we will almost be in another transfer window.............. remember, we've just cleared £68k off the wage bill. I don't think our problem has been a lack of money, it's been a lack of wages. I think we will be ok and I think we will try and get on central midfielder in January. We will be able to get someone good in January in a world cup year. If you're a top quality player just not playing enough to get in the national side then we might be a good option. At least the club stopped being boring and predictable. That's all I was really after after years of the mundane. Paolo, whether it is a car crash of a season or a sprint up the table, at least it won't be dull. Next up at the stadium. Mezut Ozil. Could be worse, you could be Pardew.
