There was some chatter about Shay Given or Jack Butland joining us recently, who would be an ideal signing for us. Also Michael Kightly. No threat if they come here, of releasing these players to Premier League rivals.

Experienced keeper arrives at The Hawthorns

Lee comes with a strong pedigree"

ALBION have strengthened their goalkeeping department by recruiting Northern Ireland international Lee Camp.

The Baggies have signed the 29-year-old on a rolling monthly contract until January after Ben Foster was ruled out for up to 12 weeks with a stress fracture in his right foot, which he suffered at Everton nine days ago.

Camp, who was a free agent, has made 349 league appearances during spells at Derby, Burton, QPR, Nottingham Forest and Norwich and also has nine caps for his country.

Goalkeeping coach Dean Kiely has welcomed the addition of Camp, who played three times in the Barclays Premier League for Norwich last term.

“Lee will bring experience and authority to the goalkeeping department,” said Kiely.

“We have acted quickly in the wake of Ben’s injury and made a really good signing.

“Lee comes with a strong pedigree, having played at a high level both domestically and internationally.

“He ticked a lot of the boxes we required when we began the search for another keeper.”

Camp, who will wear the No.12 shirt, also made five appearances for England Under-21s before opting to play for Northern Ireland, who he qualifies for through his Newtownards-born grandfather.

He was named Nottingham Forest’s Player of the Year for the 2009/10 season and also featured in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.

I dont think we need to to be honest.

I dont think Butland would move anywhere for anything other than first team football.

We have Green and Murphy, plus the young keepers. But you can sign keepers on emergency loans if required.

No. He wants to play in the WC in his home country, so he needs to play and play well. I hope he stays and takes over from Green when it gets to nervy for him again.
