With ML stating that we are definitely going to be siging one more player (striker) today who do you think it will be? Odemwingie Vaz Te Demba Ba Ngog Vasquez Defoe Anyone seen anyone in Rossis or joes???????
I always wanted Shelvey in, still not convinced about my conviction than ... but he is improving, as for the new attacker, I have no clue.
According to media sources. Them up the road are in the driving seat (not his 4x4), to get Odemwingie!! Like the sound of that, probably means we'll end up with him now. Sod's law..
I had a bet with a Liverpool fan that he wouldn't score more that eight goals for Liverpool this year. Sorted
Despite the love-in for Borini from some here I thought he was great in the Championship for us but for me he has yet to prove he can step up. He may well do but I have my doubts. In fairness he has been played out of position at Liverpool and it looks like Rodgers has bowed to fan-power. Hope he proves himself at Sunderland but I wouldn't cry any tears if they were relegated this season. Odemwingie off to Cardiff apparently. Not convinced by him either. Vasquez would be good.....let's wait and see.
Well who ever were after is from abroad this quote from Laudrup on Sky Sports. "It’s someone from abroad. We looked at some players in the UK as well, but we will probably get this player that we are talking about from abroad. It’s a loan deal with an option, so if he does well we can buy him. I think that’s the right way to do it" So I do hope it's this Vasquez lad.
As I said,it will be a striker that has played for his national team, I wonder what country he comes from though...
This Vasquez deal looks like the one that's moving forward. Reports saying its a one year one million pound deal with and option to buy.
From Gareth Vincent for the Evening Post..... SWANSEA City have agreed to sign Getafe striker Alvaro Vazquez on a season-long loan deal. Michael Laudrup has been searching for an alternative frontman ever since landing Wilfried Bony in the early stages of pre-season. And the quest for a forward will come to an end later today when Vazquez ties up his loan move to the Liberty Stadium. "We have agreed to sign Alvaro Vazquez on a season-long loan with the option of a purchase after that," Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins told the Evening Post. "Michael knows the player very well and, when you weigh up what else we have in the squad, a young player with potential who has already done well out in Spain looks like the right signing for us at this stage." Swansea have made enquiries about a number of forwards in recent weeks, with Laudrup confirming Vazquez was one name on his list last week. The 22-year-old made his La Liga debut for Espanyol back in 2010 and has since racked up 90 appearances in the Spanish top flight, scoring 14 goals. Vazquez, who has played for Spain throughout the youth football ranks, moved to Getafe last summer but was keen to move on after a difficult spell with the Madrid club. He is due in Wales this afternoon to undergo a medical and complete the paperwork on his move to SA1. Swansea, meantime, do not expect any departures before tonight's transfer deadline. There have been no enquiries either for star men like Michu and Ashley Williams or fringe figures Leroy Lita and Curtis Obeng.
I can see that people seem excited or happy with this signing, Have to be honest I am totally not convinced. His goal scoring record is less than poor with Getafe 4 in 29 and wasnt much better better at Espanyol 10 in 60. Moores record and grahams record were as good as this. I know it is not only about scoring goals but as a centre forward it does help I maybe on my own here I am not excited by this signing.
I can totally sympathise with your stance but if it helps, his u-21 exploits for Spain are really good. The promise of talent rather than the complete package i feel. even Alan Shearer said his own goal scoring record early on was poor. Taking him on loan with a view to buy is smart as it protects the club, he could be another Michu in terms of impact (sign him now!) or he could be another Schekter (poor sod).
