Morning all. Still scouring the mods board for an answer to the site outage yesterday, hope everyone has access again now. Racing today from Brighton, Ffos Las, Hamilton and Roscommon - England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland represented in equal measure. Best of luck to those of you brave enough to venture a wager.

Final and conclusive evidence today that there is just TOO MUCH news and reporting going on. From the "King of Kings" in terms of reporting worthless snippets of information, the Sporting Life website, who today bring us their "Live Transfer Deadline Day Clockwatch" with these earth-shattering nuggets of information: "Bologna have reached an agreement with Metalist Kharkiv to sign Jonathan Cristaldo on loan with the option to buy." "Bafetimbi Gomis is a perennial transfer window favourite, but he'll not be leaving Lyon today despite a summer of the traditional links with a Premier League switch." "Sky Sports understands Brighton have rejected a double bid from Crystal Palace for Liam Bridcutt and Leonardo Ulloa." Seriously, I mean SERIOUSLY, these people would be better employed picking up litter. I've never read such inconsequential diatribe.
Oddy...completely agree. Right up there with the obsequious and nauseating drivel spouted from the journo's camped outside the hospital waiting for the royal sprog to pop. Never heard such banal bilge and a masterclass in stating the obvious.
Rumours are coming out that Oddy is about to be transferred to The Punters Lounge, for a record price of a bottle of lambrini and a scotch egg, however there is a stumbling block on this deal... He is rumoured to be wanting a winning nap before he leaves and that might not happen before the end of the transfer window..in January. (Also spotted Stick talking to reporters out of the window of a clapped out Merc - perhaps he is trying to buy another nag!) Finally news from the physio is that Heis is doing a medical.
Hah! I would have put up the Greatrex bumper winner yesterday if the site had been working - brown envelope job

Hi team may I pick your brains on a subject im struggling to get my head around, the subject in question is handicapping. For example in the 4:50 at soft lad (Ffos Las) today there are 2 horses reopposing Abated and My own way home in the summary it says Abated should reverse form now being 7lb better off, but on the weights it is carrying 9-2 where MOWH is carrying 8-10 So how does this make abated better off, would it mean that last time he ran off 9-9? Appreciate it if someone could give me a bit of help with it
Just had a look at the weights in the race and it appears My own way home was receiving 10lb from Abated last time out (plus an extra 5lb taken off due to a claimer, although you are not supposed to count that), today My own way home is receiving 6lb so Abated is actually 5lb better off today. It's tricky with the Apprentice claim as some will take it into account but most will not. In my opinion it's a good way of stealing a few pounds by getting a good apprentice such as Thomas Brown (3lb)or O. Murphy(7lb) for whom the weight concession is a steal, some however if you got 12lb it's not enough. The usual way of things is that when the apprentice has a certain amount of winners the claim is reduced by increments to zero, I am mounting a campaign however where Jamie rides his way into a claim, just think about the rules where by if your car driving is so bad the DVLA make you sit your test again. Anytime now you will get 3lbs for him.
Weights are allotted based on handicap marks, so look at differences between handicap marks from last run and this one to see the change of 'weights' as conditions of each race can vary differently (normally based on top handicap mark of runners entered in race)
Nice one Dex... Just put a Chicken and Leek pie in the oven, with a puff pastry lid, carrots and peas to accompany it... Plus fresh raspberries n blueberries for my sweet... Oh and ive only made just enough for me and the missus Dex... Deelissshhh...!!! Oddy, only Sky Sports can make a whole day of it, trying to make it something that it purely isnt, news worthy... Just sums up whats bad about our media... Anyway, Liverpool beat the mancs yesterday, and so im not bothered what happens now for the rest of the week...
I remain very interested in Kris Kin as a sire of NH horses .................. had some good success with his offspring last season (most notably Empiracle) and again yesterday in the Newton Abbot bumper where Sebastian's Charm landed the odds in pleasing style. In the last race at Roscommon tonight we have a Kris Kin sired debutant in Chrisseys Girl, a bay filly out of an unraced Lammtara mare, currently trading at 33/1. There are some nicely bred NH types in the race but hopefully the prevailing fast ground can give a filly with a flat pedigree a squeak and she is worth a small e/w dabble.
