Liverpool got the first early goal .. and they defended very well UTD was slow starter but I think we had a very good 2nd half .. I hope not signing Fellaini or other targets was really worth it... Ed Woodward seem clueless
Not convinced Fellani is United quality and I don't think you need Baines who is not exactly young himself.
It's hard to read a lot into a match where one side scores in the first 5 minutes and it ends 1-0 All tactics for both sides get thrown out the window for almost 90 mins and you'll never know what a 'normal' match would have looked like

I don't know why managers do that. Just be honest, everybody could see how bad the football was. That's probably why the media love Mourinho and Holloway, at least they speak their mind.
It's so so blatantly obvious the Fergie factor has gone. Other than the Swansea game they have looked shocking - I'd now put them in a battle for fourth, below Chelsea, City, and Spurs. They simply don't have a good enough team/squad now Fergies gone, just shows you how good Fergie really was. They need to do something drastic today, like snatch Ozil from Arsenal/City. Also a young CB would be helpful as Rio is well passed it now.. Moye's ex Everton pair, won't improve them that much.

Very disappointed with the lineup when I saw it just before the match. Sure we knew Rooney was out, but the minute I saw Valencia on the bench and Giggs and Young in the XI I had a bad feeling. Liverpools's first XI are nothing special and their bench is dire. But we had absolutely no physicality in midfield. You know that in away matches you are going to have to scrap for the ball, and in a derby vs Liverpool it's going to be a hundred times worse... But with a midfield of Carrick, Cleverley, Giggs and Young we lost every 50/50 challenge and header, they just wanted it more than us, it was embarrassing. We made Gerrard and HENDERSON look like top, top players. I know it's just one result so don't want to overreact, but it's the performance more than the result that killed me. Valencia coming on made such a difference, why is it so obvious to the fans and not to the coaching staff? Our best midfield players in preseason were Januzaj and Zaha, and yet they haven't really even been used as rotation players, we keep playing a fairly consistent first XI, only rotating players due to injury. Liverpool's defence had a field day. Do you think any of our players scared them except for our substitutes? No one was willing to take them on, just cut back and pass it back to the midfield/defence... At least our three subs had a bit of hunger and determination when they came on (Valencia, Hernandez and Nani who is hardly my favourite as many will know). I'm off to France for three weeks so won't get to see the next two league matches (including the City derby), hopefully we get a draw there but I think their midfield must be smacking their lips at the prospect of taking us on. Hopefully I come back to good news at least!
Of course they would. You must see how **** Cleverly is, Fellaini would improve that in an instant. As would Baines but we really need to concentrate on midfield and if it means missing Baines so be it. I can only repeat, you lot weren't that good, we were just extremely ****. I would be a little concerned that you barely created a single chance against us after the goal but, like you've said, you know you've got Suarez to come back. We can't claim to have been missing anyone in CM, that's all we've got.
You're right, we still have some development to do and we still wait for Suarez to come back. BUT look at the league - we are the only side with a 100% record and sit clear at the top. So, the prospects for us are good. You are also right when you look to your midfield. We said last season that you are porous and there's nothing to suggest that you have improved. Against us you huffed and puffed but created very little. AT HOME against Chelsea you did exactly the same. Fellani is NOT the signing that you need - obviously I hope you don't manage to find the player that you need in the time remaining. Glad the season's started so we can now chat about footy and not the crap of the Summer
Fellaini +1 other would do though! I agree, him on his own only solves half the problem. Rumours abound, let's see what, if anything, comes off. In your favour of course is being top and on max points creates confidence and momentum etc. which can only hold you in good stead. It's a good position to be in for sure.
Personally I still think it's too early to push the panic button for Utd. Our league season is almost always defined by our results against the rest of the league, rather than by the top teams who are always up for playing us. Like you say dave, our midfield was an issue last season, and the season before and the season before. Didn't stop us running away with the league last year and being a minute away from winning it the year before. And even when we had Scholes, Ronaldo and Rooney in his prime running the show we still had some poor results against Liverpool and Chelsea - pretty sure we started the 08/09 season the same as this one, albeit with a home draw to Newcastle before the draw with Chelsea and loss to Liverpool. I'll be more worried if we look this toothless when we are playing clubs from the bottom half, rather than the big spenders aiming towards the top. We still have a team with the quality and experience to win most of our games against clubs which our rivals tend to drop points against, it just remains to be seen whether we will continue that trend. Still, if this performance spurs Moyes to bring in Fellaini and Herrera then I won't complain at all
There's a slight difference this season though isn't there? A big, glaring fairly obvious one. I'm not panicking but the problem needs addressing.
Of course you won't complain if you sign those 2 - I doubt many sides would! What I do know is that we have time to improve our squad and gel our new players before we have to meet you again in the league so I'm not too worried. As for the last 2 seasons in particular, I still stick to the belief that your league performances had as much to do with the failure of the opposition to sustain a proper challenge. After all you had clear air before you bottled it against City! So where's Rooney going?
