<laugh> Ok I'm in. Next week prepare for the wrath of Warm Pouch, I mean Assez Chaude Poche, I mean Boa Constrictor, I mean Norma Snockers. Can't believe I wasted my 2nd last name change on Hacky Sack in a hungover drunken moment this morning. Damn reminiscing about them ornament smashing sessions at my mothers.

Didn't see the point in booing when he came on and thought it wasn't too bad after a few minutes.
It sounded to me as though Gallowgate corner were singing his name near the end.

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, if that leads you to losing confidence as a poster and irreparably damages the psyche of the other posters, damaging the board as a whole, I stand corrected.

If that doesn't happen, then I'll take it that my booing has had the desired effect or otherwise had no effect, in which case booing is clearly acceptable as a message or for sheer entertainment value...

    Day one of the experiment...

They defo were. It didn't last long either, mainly just when he came on (like I said earlier, a good portion beside me were giving him it) and a few murmurs on his first couple of touches.

Then they started singing his name in the corner. Supporters are a bi polar fickle bunch though. Part of the remit to be a supporter of any club <laugh>

Any fans who booed Cabaye today are a disgrace to the football club, provide me with clear cut evidence that he refused to play and I'll change my opinion. I think the situation was stirred up and getting the feeling from the way Pardew has been speaking that it has been blown out of proportion by the press.

Whereas I'm not a booer, I find it hard to call those who did a disgrace. Its not whether he refused to play, its that he was not professional enough to be in the right frame of mind (and have enough respect for club, manager, fans, teammates) to be in a fit state for his manager to pick him. The conspiracy about not playing him to avoid injury so a sale goes through can now be dismissed, and Pards has given the game away with his "I've told him I expect him to be good to go against Fulham" comments. So while its not clear cut, it seems pretty clear he has either refused or at least given his manager justified cause for concern he is not up for it. Its not really good enough when you are paid to do your job - a bloodly well paid good job too.

As I say booing your own is not for me as I'm never convinced it achieves much but seems fair game for criticism on all known evidence

i thought, as a whole crowd, the response was appropriate and it worked out well. Some clapped to show that we will still support the players on the pitch and some booed to show that players can't behave like that.

If everyone had booed it would have been terrible for the player, team and game. If everyone had cheered it would almost justify his alleged behaviour.

I also thought cabaye did well when he came on, he is a lot more creative and positive than anita, who i like, although i think cabaye is better suited to the deep playmaker role with sissoko the box to box man. I would struggle to find a position for anita to play in...

Remy looked a handful and le gouff gave it away far less than marv, overall it was a great ending to an almost frustrating game.

Can't believe people feel so much more strongly about this Cabaye situation than they do with mike Ashley and joe Kinnear. No clear evidence on Cabayegate, yet years of Ashley **** ups (and Kinnear is kinnear), yet we give Cabaye stick.

    Makes sense

This is what I don't really understand to be honest. He has either refused to play or not been in the right frame of mind to play. To me either is poor on his part. What is the clear evidence we are waiting for, is there any other reason for his no show? We now know it wasn't down to the club protecting a sale as some thought, so I'm struggling to see another reason.

That's what it looks like doesn't it. Forget about keeping a winning team and get as much cash in as you can.

To be honest I think he faces a battle to keep hold of just about any player. If a big gun bids enough, it won't be his choice.

Honestly, if I was Pardew I'd resign. This won't end well for him, because he'll get the millstone round his neck for being associated with the unmitigated disaster that this will surely turn in to. This won't be the saviour or turning point of his career, it'll be the end of it.

If we keep this squad together, truthfully, it'll barely be enough to scrape by another year.

Honestly 3 players. Sign a striker, winger and replacement for Cabaye we'd be ok. Obviously you'd like a right back for cover and Willo replaced in an ideal world but realistically it isn't going to happen. We can accept that. Its just tough to swallow us selling Cabaye and failing to sign anyone like a bunch of gambling cowboys.

    Absolutely <ok>

Unfortunately all that enmity will be directed at Pardew when it all goes wrong... and for what? Not tactically bringing on Sammy Ameobi five minutes earlier? Not playing Shola in the slightly withdrawn striking role where he can use his pace? The man has zero options on the bench at present, and in all likelihood, it'll only be worse by monday night.

You can see where it is going. In some games he won't select his best 11, just so all his eggs aren't in one basket. That'll rile some fans, who will ask "Why him and not him?". Then like you say when he does pick his best 11, and it doesn't go plan (which is allowed), he'll be turning round looking at the craziness of Ameobis to bail him out. He'll get slaughtered for that.

That is without touching on the tension the players pick up from behind the scenes and fans frustration, and their own worries about the lack of desire to improve.

I find myself wanting to get back on the horse this season, but absolutely sure the ****er is gonna buck me off and trample on my nads.

If people wanna boo him, that's entirely fair enough. What else can people do? Write him a strongly worded letter? Take to twitter? None of it has an impact. If Cabaye worked in any other job he would've been fired, plain and simple. I work at Starbucks at the minute, if Costa approached me with a promotion and I just decided not to come into work for 2 weeks to get out of my contract I'd be out of a job (without pay). We can't fire him, we can't reprimand him - all we can do as a fan base is boo or cheer. For me, the only reason Cabaye has started playing again is due to a possible International freeze out. That's just speculation, but it makes more sense than any other 'he might get injured so we won't play him' conspiracies!
