Palace looked just like us after a promotion. Seen it too many times not to know the signs. We're not a team yet and we'll be in trouble if we don't gel soon. Not happy and a nightmare schedule coming up. Hmmm...
Sunday league thats what that reminded me of. Only bright moments were 1. Diakite (looked half decent) 2. Celuska loves getting forward 3. Fletcher back and bagged a goal. Far too many players on that pitch that aren't putting in a shift. Need to get rid of Whickham, Ji, Vaughan.
Gel? I think we started with 7 who were here last year. Others came in early in the close season. It's football, not a space mission. We are useless - yet again x
I'm disappointed too Sid but like you say time for them to gel. I'm actually still not worried, we can see what he is trying to do, it is now up to the players. I do have a worry that PDC rates Larsson mind. Two identical freekicks from the same position. And he over hits both! If his dead balls have gone to ****, he isn't worth his shirt. Still say give it 10 games in and we should be able to tell more about the team. Being fit is all well and good. But not if it is used frantically and diving into tackles.
Anyone that remembers half of my posts will know im quite an optimistic sunderland fan in comparison to most, but after today i have seriously had enough. Yet again we have been out done by a set piece. Im sorry but this is school boy stuff. Their is way too many liabilities in this team. Im fed up of players crying about wanting a chance and when they get it, do **** all (i.e Wickham). I actually cant remember a time where ive been so annoyed after a football game. I guess its probably down to the reality of whats to come with our up and coming fixtures and the fact we should have had at least 7 points from the opening 3 games. I suppose my biggest fear is, with our fixture list, a massive rot will set in and therefore condemn us. Hope im wrong but im currently drinking from half a glass empty as opposed to half full.
we looked like a relegation side today and against Southampton...I have feared this might happen with so many new players coming in. I reckon we could be cut adrift by Xmas with our fixture list.
He's vice captain which unfortunately, in my opinion, is a disaster. Means he will be here for the long haul. Get a decent midfielder in and with Fletch & Jozy together we will be OK Agree with the rest of the post
So what did you think.....we looked like a top 10 team or an average mid table team or even a top 4 team who was having a bad at the office. I say what I saw...we looked like a relegation team. I don't want to say that but it's a reality.
Sid, Flanders please be careful. Honest heart felt appraisals are not welcome by certain posters now. You must learn to go along with the flow and just say everything will be fine in order to be part of the crowd. We have played Fulham, Southampton and Crystal Palace thus far and have 1 point. Conceded 5 and scored 2. Our next 6 games are much harder and yet for stating that you will be slaughtered. After 10 games I can't see us with more than 5 or 6 points and if that is the case our season is set for total struggle. I thought it would take time to gel but also expected to have a minimum of 4 points from our opening 3 fixtures. It's going to be a long, long season lads.
I am really worried about where points are now going to come from Cest. If we get turned over by a team like Palace who are rank certainties for the drop then we need to be concerned. By Xmas, given our fixtures I doubt we will have points that will go into double figures. I have never bought into the PDC thing to be honest, he is a lose cannon and his man management skills seem to be non exsitant. I hoped he would come into this club and revolutionize us from top to bottom...what I see is a guy who is tactically unaware, his so called passion spills over into personal abuse and when things are going badly wrong, looks like a little boy lost. I hope he can pull it around, I really do, but the evidence we have all seen I am not holding my breath
PDC constant public berating of his players will lose him the dressing room very quickly and along with it the chances of us surviving this year. He likes to point fingers at his players without blaming himself yet he picked a tam yesterday that had Larsson and Vaughan in the midfield and Ji up front. I don't think he has the slightest idea of what an EPL manager is supposed to do and ranting on tv after yet another feckless performance about wanting MORE players, after 11 new ones already, won't go down well at the Short household. Still, we are all just moaning wums apparently for raising our concerns.
In my experiences what you want & actually get are 2 very different things. We all crave Instant Gratification It's way of life and myself can be one the most impatient blokes you'll ever meet. In saying that there's pro's and cons with all of this.. We wouldn't be watching Sunderland in PL this season if it wasn't for short & pdc, 11/12 players so far & they say time to gel well most of our signings were made well before the game against fulham, pdc chopping and changing too frequently has maybe caused a stop/start effect on the squad. Everyone on this board knows were a few pieces short of the puzzle, Mon and Bruce had a fair while here b4 rightfully being given the flick, I'm giving pdc the time he deserves, one question if anyone could help me out i believe pdc has a uefa b licence? is this the standard licence for a prem league manager? KTF FTM
I agree Bruce had time and support but I'd question if MoN did. 15 months and 66 games and many on here turned on him after 30 or 40 games. PDC has been here 5 months had 10 games so far and brought in 11 new players and shifted out plenty, so in another 20 or 30 games we will need to see far, far better than we currently are under that measure. Agreed? By the time we have played the mags he will have had 16 games which is roughly a quarter of the time MoN was given? Where do you think we should be points and position wise? I'm just interested that's all? Mon won 27 points out of his first 16 games btw and yet he soon came under fire. I'm not saying MoN had to be replaced (it probably saved us tbh) but I am questioning why PDC is hailed as the long term saviour that's all, when the football on offer is no better AFTER all the new faces brought in.
I know in mons last 12 pl games we won 2, lost 7, draw 3.Half of those games we played teams around us on the ladder, Depending on the person it's a very complex argument, 15 months wasn't enough from the outside looking in but the only time i've ever fallen asleep watching a game of football was last season when mon was in charge. 5 mil for graham? will say though ndaiye great pick up but now in turkey lol. Everyone looks at this differently cest, for me if was starting a new job and made mistakes i'd make sure id learn from them but would also Appreciate the companys backing.. Pdc has made mistakes, he's a rookie who (in no disrespect) was managing league 1 with Swindon town.. Im not a person who thinks we should be in this position and on that many points. With the long time saviour, No contract in world sports is gauranteed ( except if your that w#nker pardew) New Coach New squad new outlook that's a day by day process for me.. Lets see who we bring before d day.. Bloody hurt to lose yesterday but more intersted in how we bounce back now!
