And you've made this pathetic assertion on one poor game? Wanyama was solid in the first two games and certainly showed his immense skill in pre-season as well. Plus, he's two years younger so has more time to reach his full potential, which has been predicted by many to be far greater than Cork's.
Who played in the first two games and came on as a sub today. Yep, Rickie is really keeping him locked in the dressing room.
Where has our pressing style gone? That's what we were praised for in this league last year. Since cork and schneiderlin were broken up, which was the best thing about us last year, ur midfield sits deeper, schneiderlin is a different player and others are bettering us at our own pressing game. Just my opinion and a few others after today but I think people have forgotten the things cork did so well for us last year.
You'd drop a main striker who has scored double the number of goals of the second string striker? Perhaps what people may want to consider is that our style of play is to the detriment of our main and best striker?
Disappointing not to score from open play....did we have our customary goal disallowed for offside? Is it me or is there a definite difference in the way we are playing this season compared with last? Our build up is slower and we seem to be lacking width maybe, disappointed with the result, sorely disappointed.
We were very exciting when Mauricio came, but then fell away at the end of last season as I think he tried to stop us leaking goals. We seemed to get more draws then. Hopefully, we will get our mojo back when the 3 new players are integrated. Or perhaps Cork needs to return. I think we probably missed Puncheon towards the end of the season and the start of this. He seemed to give us something a bit different, especially in tandem with Clyne. Haven't watched any games in full, so may be wrong, but I wonder if Chambers is more defensive (in the same way Shaw was when he started out).
I've quietly been saying that about our style of play for a little while. Lambert has scored 2 goals from open play under Poch. That says a lot. Didn't see the game but have seen the score. Let me guess... we dominated possession but failed to score and conceded a sloppy goal?
I've been on the road all day but reading this match thread reminded me why this forum frequently depresses me during the season. Can it be summer again?
If he's not fit he shouldn't play at all. I thought the point in strength in depth was when we had a player out his replacement came in and is equally capable. If Morgan is not match fit play cork/wany. Normally I have no problem with gaston coming on but to take off our best player and put on a (very talented) but hot/cold playmaker surprised me.
I thought it was a very even contest and could easily have gone either way or ended drawn. Don't see any reason for you to be anything but optimistic about the season. Some of you are reacting in the way a lot of our fans did last week after we failed to get anything at all at Hull (see my signature). You were good in possession and close to breaking us down several times; just that we defended pretty well and had Leroy Fer finding his PL feet at DM. We really didn't cause Boruc and the guys in front of him too much trouble. You'll be fine, and hopefully we will too.
Ah, fair enough. Norwich are decent so that's not terrible. In an odd way I'm actually less bothered that we played poorly because, well, that happens sometimes.
