This has probably been done to death, but that twat Platini is starting to do my head in, and is as bent if not worse than the other **** at FIFA. Platini sticks the boot into us again today because we want the World Cup held in Summer as its always been. He says that its tough but you will have to change because its too hot in the desert in summer so going to have it in the winter .... We didn't get the world cup because it went to the desert state and on a like for like proposal which meant summer. The arabs wouldn't have won if they had proposed winter. its ****ing bent, daft and stupid. Platini has had it in for us for years. he has complained that we are too rich and pay the players too much which means all the best players come here. he says he wants a financial, fair play rule to level the playing field because of all our cash. He complains that we get 3 Champions League places and sometimes 4, and he complains because he's French and has no soap. Is it just me or should we accept that our best players will not be playing for their clubs through that winter, as they will be away with their country, in the desert playing a football tournament where nobody is attending.
I think you may be factually incorrect here. I think it was the US who lost out to the the desert boys. We were in the other bid, weren't we, the two are 4 years apart but all agreed together. But it was my understanding the bid was made on the basis of it being a summer tournament, so its great now to start changing that - I doubt they'd have won it if they had made that little point clear at the time
Don't think it was solely Platini's decision, and to be fair he's got a point in that our rich clubs are becoming obscenely richer than the rest, and something needs to be done - at least he's trying to implement new ideas. I also don't think the Premier League warrants four Champions League places. As for the best players coming here, they're going to Spain surely? La Liga and the Bundesliga are superior to the Premier League anyway. As for the World Cup in summer, it will affect all the major leagues, so it's not a case of England being victimised, every European nation's pampered, overpaid primadonna's will have to put that little extra bit of 'effort' into 'earning' their disgraceful wages, not just England's, who are so **** they probably won't be there anyway. Don't blame it all on Platini

As far as I'm concerned the champions of each european countries league should enter, not 2nd, 3rd, 4th placed teams. I know the format is here to stay so it's pointless of me ranting about it. But it still winds me up. So is the fact that the 3rd placed teams in the first group stages can drop into the fairs/uefa/europa league or whatever the feckin name is......
We can't a even form a breakway group anymore, if we're in a minority of 1. The World Cup has always been a summer event looked forward to by millions. The Arabs proposal was for a summer event and thats why they were given it. As part of their 'pitch' they were bragging about having air-conditioned stadiums, which was a joke back then. They proposed that they were going to build 5 new stadiums and loads of hotels???? The World Cup 'pitch' was made as being part of the future a legacy event. Problem being that they can't even fill one stadium as it is because theres not enough population. So what are they going to do with all the hotels they build because there will never be anyone using them so they will need demolishing ..... what sort of a legacy is this. This just shows the world how rich these arab nations can be compared to the rest of us. Its all about kick-backs to Blatter and his mates. Nothing to do with sense, legacy, growth in the sport and taking it to populations who can't get it.

I my opinion we would gain a lot from Platini's idea's (can not believe I just typed that!!!). Please hear me out before you call for the men with the sleeveless jackets. A winter break could be a good thing is done correctly. I would love to the season start proper on the August Bank Holiday Weekend, with Games on Saturday & Monday (that's one set of fixtures brought forward), then another midweek fixture after the League Cup games on week 3. The League & FA cup would have to start a little later, I have to admit I would enjoy the fixture congestion, as its always good to see when big teams implode in April. However I would not implement any of this until after the Qatar World Cup is cancelled, just to be difficult. Now regards the Fairplay rules: Mark my words, the Sky money bubble will soon burst for some, in 10 years time with Fibre Optic improvements we will have TV Season Tickets based subscriptions which allow you to watch all your teams matches on a Saturday with a selection of the rest (Sunday/Monday). This will distribute the money to the best supported teams, this will never be a bad thing for Leeds United and will give us more spending power than most.
I think this is ******ed personally and it makes it worse when you go through the order of events also. So I'm pretty sure it came down to Australia (not the UK or the US) and Qatar but Qatar promised to build completely new stadiums with full on air conditioning inside with closed roofs which would get around this problem of having it in the summer. FIFA fell for this idea saying that it would be great for a place like Qatar to get the world cup especially if its feasible for the football world. Obviously air conditioned stadiums were never gonna happen and it was just so they could win the bid. FIFA should have said that they have gone back on their promise and we are awarding it to another country by going through the process again but instead they are trying to make it work there for some unknown reason.
The reason it was awarded to the arabs in the first place always to me was because of money put into the right pockets .The only problem with the mail is they rarely report on our matches or rugby league games either

Why Qatar? Well its not only about past deals boys and girls. Did you know when signing up for the world cup countries have agree to FIFA providing the official accommodation! This is currently run by a company called Match, they secure all the hotel rooms for duration and act a a brooker. The Brazilian tourist board have raised concerns recently that prices via Match are 500% higher! Qatar allows greater control of the limited rooms than countries like Australia who have more local establishments. The final piece of the puzzle.... What company do you think Sepp Jnr owns? Simples
