Rangers will need to be on top form if they are to take anything from their trip to Elland Road, as Leeds are one the six teams yet to taste defeat in the Championship this season. Harry Redknapp will look to recall the likes of Joey Barton, Karl Henry and Junior Hoilett to the side to ensure the R`s have the best possible chance of breaking down a dogged and resilient Leeds side. I`m expecting a performance akin to last week`s with QPR looking to sniff something out on the break. That said, if Junior Hoiilett starts, the R`s might be more positive in attack than against Bolton. QPR`s recent record against Leeds doesn't make for pleasant reading - no win in nine league matches (D3 L6), but the R`s shared a similar record against Bolton and defied the form book to win - a repeat of that would be ideal. However, judging by the games this season, QPR still need to play with more urgency, despite their unbeaten start. The fact that Swindon were the best side to face QPR this season tells you all you need to know about the quality of this league - or at least the standard of the opponents met so far. Again, the return of Junior Hoilett will certainly increase our threat going forward and when Matt Phillips is match fit, he will be a brilliant player for us at this level as well. Until then, QPR have made a strong start to the season but in terms of play, there is still room for improvement. Leeds Team News: Leeds have no new injury concerns. Tom Lees, Stephen Warnock and midfield pair Luke Murphy and Paul Green will also be vying for starts. Possible line up: KENNY PELTIER - LEES - PEARCE - WARNOCK GREEN - AUSTIN - MURPHY HUNT - MCCORMACK - VARNEY Player to watch: ( Leeds ) - Ross McCormack please log in to view this image Player to watch : QPR - Charlie Austin please log in to view this image QPR Team News: Junior Hoilett could return following a spell out injured with a hamstring injury. Andrew Johnson is expected to start instead of Bobby Zamora. Possible line up: GREEN SIMPSON - DUNNE - ONUOHA - HILL WRIGHT-PHILLIPS - HENRY - BARTON - HOILETT AUSTIN - JOHNSON Player to watch: Rob Green Many of the plaudits this season have gone the way of Junior Hoilett, Andrew Johnson and Joey Barton, and rightly so. But for me Rob Green has been just as important as the aforementioned players. He made two smart saves against Bolton, and in each match this season at some point Green has come to the rescue of the team. He does have the odd dodgy moment in his locker and his distribution could be improved but, they are minor facets of his game in comparison to his commanding aerial presence and excellent shot-stopping abilitY; a match winner at this level. Stat Attack Leeds are unbeaten in nine league matches against QPR, winning six and drawing three. QPR have failed to score in their last three trips to Elland Road in the league. The Whites have won three of the last four home matches against QPR in the second tier of English football (D1). Against Bolton, Andrew Johnson scored his first league goal away from home since September 2011, a run of 14 away league games without a goal. Ross McCormack has scored in four of his last five Championship appearances for Leeds United. Leeds have accumulated seven points from losing positions this season; more than any other side. Money, parachutes and underdogs – preview Friday, 30th Aug 2013 19:45 by Clive Whittingham QPR head to Elland Road this Saturday – an unhappy hunting ground for the R's over the years - but do so as favourites according to the home side as Leeds become the latest Championship club to bemoan the parachute payment system. Leeds United v Queens Park Rangers Championship >>> Saturday August 31, 2013 >>> Kick Off 12.15 >>> Elland Road, Leeds >>> Live on Sky Sports 1 The last time QPR played at Elland Road you'd have been forgiven for thinking that the plucky, little West London club was being put back in its box – or knocked off its perch – by one of the second tier's genuine big names. Rangers had remained unbeaten for the first 19 matches of the season and topped the table, but wins had turned into draws as summer had turned into autumn and a 3-0 home massacre by Watford was followed swiftly by a 2-0 defeat in West Yorkshire. Injuries were biting as hard as the cold on a day so snowbound it took the travelling support most of the rest of the night to get home. The Leeds fans celebrated like they'd won an FA Cup semi-final, whirling scarves around their heads and singing about being "champions of Europe." Come the return fixture in May and the situation was markedly different.................................... - See more at: http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footba...and-underdogs-–-preview?#sthash.YuUAb9DD.dpuf
Reckon it'll be a tight game. We're on a real high at the moment, with the fans, board and manager all pushing in the same direction for the first time in years, and I think some people underestimate our squad; McCormack may be our only real source of creativity up front and out wide, but from in goal through to midfield I feel we're definitely one of the strongest sides in the division. By comparison your potential starting 11 looks a lot more dangerous going forward but I think we should win the battle in the middle of the park. Certainly think it should make for a good game, and certainly a barometer of how far we can really go this season.
I did Grifter, I tried to add a bit of colour and humour to the match day thread. It's a bit hit and miss though if I'm honest. I think we have a few of our own posters out there who can make a better fist of it. I was just practising and playing around with it. I reckon superthickerhoops, DT, QPR1968, Norway and Kilburn and a few others could do a better job. Cheers for your generous comments though. It's not all my own work. The words are supplied by Jack Supple who writes for http://www.qpr.vitalfootball.co.uk/m...#ixzz2dUyp9yWu I have no ego, and I seek no desire to claim anyone's work as my own. It's all a bit of a mash-up of pictures, words, and odds to make the thread more interesting. If anyone would like to take up the reins for the matchday thread, please do so. You're more than welcome. I remember a season or two back, that there were some really good cross-board threads. They are not allowed on here anymore due to the aggro they caused. The bloke who did the Norwich one was very good. Shame really.
I remember those Norwich ones, in the style of an American sports commentator- very funny! No you've done a grand job nines (managers in particular! ), i'm very tempted to link this to the Leeds page. We do get a bit partisan on matchdays though...so perhaps it wouldn't be wise. It could be an idea to edit the title to "Leeds V QPR- Matchday Thread"? Just because in the excitement before kickoff on a Saturday, everyone tends to scan the forum quickly for those words- then make their own threads if they can't immediately see them. It might save duplicates!
Rudy Austin is on form for you isn't he? I'm a bit worried about him and murphy, sounds a tasty midfield. We'll rigidly stick to 442 as well, so if you've got a 5 man midfield you'll probably do some damage. ..We should have: hoillet-henry-barton-oneil So we're not doing badly in that area ourself! Hoillet is a nightmare for teams in this division, and the other three add up to a very capable "engine room". It'll be a good battle!

Just up, a bit of breakfast and head for the airport. Good post Simon21. I like your optimism. I have no doubt this will be our hardest test to date but we seem to be a lot more resilient this year. Here's to a good game and a good visit to your city. PS - we're going a bit posh 999's with the OP. Colour graphics whoooooooooooooo. Well done.
I'm surprised you got the two crests on the same page. Leeds, Leeds, Leeds are a huge club! Rep my f*cking a$$ off for once! Much love and fank you very much.
Expect Hoilett to be on the bench, he hasn't played for a few weeks and I can't see Harry starting with him; 2nd half sub perhaps?
Yeah, Austin's been a revelation this season as captain, and he and Green are both fantastic off the ball. When defending, our wide strikers will probably look to squeeze all your play in towards those 3, and when going forward they're all comfortable on the ball to a certain extent. Your defence doesn't look the quickest either, and Austin could catch them off guard with his runs from deep.
Mainly true, but Nedum is very quick and very good! Centre midfield will be important. Barton and Henry are no push-overs, as well as O'Neil coming in to help when you have the ball.
TODAY'S TEAM NEWS FROM ELLAND ROAD: QPR XI: Green; Simpson, Onuoha, Dunne, Hill, SWP, Barton, Henry, O’Neil, Johnson, Austin. Subs: Murphy; Suk-Young, Jenas, Hoilett, Zamora, Faurlin, Shariff.
