Deano was cracking CM at L1 and NPC. Shame he didn't make the step up with us, wish him the best at lest.
This is the kind of signing that Leicester needed, lots of quality there but not sure they have the drive and the right mentality, Deano will solve that, top professional, gives it his all and is generally a good player. Always liked Hammond sad to see him go, hope he goes on to do good things at Leicester
Tougher in the tackle than Oakley but good comparison. Remember Deano for a great finish against his old club Colchester which was a crucial away win in our promotion season. Also for some crunching tackles against Pompey in the FA cup
Of the players on the fringes, he's the one I most hoped would find a permanent home. Leicester's alive in the League Cup, playing at home to Derby...now would love to see a home draw with them in the Fourth Round so that Deano can get a well-deserved ovation.
I agree with you. He would have been a very useful squad player last season. Particularly with Cork out at the start of the season. He was a reason Richardson and Fox both had such a great season for us in the Championship. Hammond was very clever and used to fill into RB or LB if he thought we'd get done on the counter. Didn't give the ball away cheaply, got stuck in, ran himself into the ground every game and the captain. I don't understand why he wasn't more popular with the fans.
The Hammond goal against Leeds was one of my strongest memories of the Championship season. I wasn't 100% sure how we'd do...but that win on Sky and Hammond's big smile, and I thought this is going to be fine. Didn't predict automatic promotion, but I knew we would make the play offs. Best of luck to Dean...great man, great captain...will keep my eye on Leicester now.
Cheers Deano shame we didn't get to see you in the prem. Hope if the foxes get promoted you get a shot at playing. All the best.
