I do, I'm sorry but I may be old fashioned in the view that I think we should give the players who gave us that success a chance. Just my view.
Sorry to see him go, as I have been with everyone involved the past 2/3 years. Deano was a great captain, a great role model and a superb servant for the club during our rise. Good Luck, and thanks for the memories Deano!
Such an underrated and under valued player by so many fans. Nobby Stiles of the modern generation. Thank you Deano you were a great leader and a great captain and that goal against Leeds was legendary!!!!
OK, picky bugger. As it happens I was looking at another match that was in November of 2011 and forgot to change my text. You're running along a thin line of my patience, laddie.
So you'd have given him opportunities last year ahead of JWP? Or kept one of Cork and Morgan out of the side? Or not bothered getting Wanyama and Davis so Hammond could fit in?
Would have given him a chance at the start of last season, yes. He's a good character and has a good head in the middle of midfield. May have helped us through that tricky start. I'm not criticising the other midfield players, I think they are fantastic, I just would have played him for a game at least. He was our captain after all.
So you would have played him.against City or United? We would have been destroyed. You've got to play your strongest line up in the PL for every game.
Bye deano thanx for your time here. Least when you knew you weren't part of the plans you didn't bitch and moan.
Just to let you know we all expect the fee to be peanuts as with FFP coming in we have had get our accounts from making losses of 30M a year down to 8M a year. We do have the money we just cant spend it
I'm pretty sure none of us are expecting much money from it at all. He's one of a number of players we were/are looking to offload just to get them off the wagebill.
I can't imagine you'll have got him for peanuts, if he was available for that sort of money then every team in the Championship would have been in for him. At least £500,000 I'd say.
I think that Hammond or even Chaplow would have been effective at home to Man Utd as we wrongly sat back and they wouldn't have given Scholes all that space to create chances. We did, however, have Moran, Cork, Davis, JWP and Gaston so he'd only feature in the LC/FAC. Add Wanyama to that and he'd be far from playing.
Just to clarify, I never said he should be playing now in our current midfield. Just that he should have had a chance, he deserved it.
I cant see it being that high. A would say around 250K max We have sold Ben Marshall for 750K, cancelled Richie Wellens contract and had to pay Jermaine Beckford to leave so transfer wise we cant afford to spend money
Minimal, his wages would have been relatively high, but as to what he has taken at Leicester, we could not know. Good player and has the added advantage of not having spent a year not playing unlike some of our other unwanted players. Seemed to do well at Brighton and fitted into Poyet's plan, and they did ok. Everyone will wish him good luck.
Great lad Deano, glad he's got himself a decent club at long last. He was the engine that drove us out of league 1 and the championship.
