This season there seems to be more supporters of SWP out there Calmly and seriously Apart from running back and making a good sliding tackle in the 80th minute of every game what does he bring to the game He can't shoot He can't or refuses to dribble down the line (apart from the last game) He can't control a ball so slows it up He doesn't move into space (watch 10 minutes of o'neill for a comparison) He can't cross a ball He doesn't win headers He doesn't bring his left back midfielders or strikers into the game He doesn't link play Calmly and seriously - what am I missing ?
He runs around a lot. You could do the same with Zamora who literally offers nothing, a pub player would be better than him.
He did win two headers in the Swindon match, one against a bloke who must have been 2 feet taller than him, the other was one of our few attacks. Unfortunately the rest is true.
SWP was better than jenas, faurlin, yun, and Zamora on Tuesday. SWP is the easiest target though. The problem is almost summed up by the OP, the majority of anti-SWP fans don't watch what he does during matches. He's simply been branded with sweeping generalisations. You'll say to someone, "I thought SWP had a good game", and they'll say "No he didn't. He's **** and can't shoot". Okay...but how did he play?
I watch what he does very closely grifter, because I think he's funny, he makes me laugh which is always good. However, his lack of competence is startling for a man who has had tens of millions spent on him through his career. Mystifying, because he's not just been comically bad for us, he's always been comically bad as an attacking player. He always tries his hardest though, tracks back etc etc.
In my opinion he was as effective as Jenas and Zamora. His best moments were running across the field not forwards. Suk-Young made a couple of impressive forward bursts in the second half, racing onto through balls from Faurlin which seem to have slipped through everyone's consciousness. What I will say for him is that he doesn't ever stop trying, and so I will always give him another chance.
Grifter To turn that back on you and not just moan or anti moan The question is what does he bring to the game?
He must be a different kind of player in training because to me he's shown nothing to really warrant being on the pitch this season
Nobody should be paid millions for having a good engine. Very little difference between him and Mackie. He will always give 100% effort but effort is not enough by itself. His close control is very poor for a pro footballer, he can't cross accurately and he does not score enough for an attacking midfielder.
Weve seen the training videos on youtube, hes **** in those too. Hes robbed a living in football. Hes a multi millionaire just because he can run fast.
I think and hope its next summer, thats correct if its a 3 year deal, surely we cant have offered 4 years?
I think he had some skill to begin with but it dried up once he moved to Chelsea. Since then he's only really had a career based on his dad's name and his ability to run fast in a straight line without the ball, although seeing as he couldnt outstrip Bolton's 2 freight train CB's I think his pace might have gone as well
Presumably the SWP knockers will do their work spinning his first half there. "He had a shot which he missed, he's a joke!" He's one of the few people who've had a shot, which he created himself off the back of some strong and purposeful play. Another decent enough performance so far from SWP.
Just said similar to my mrs (on deaf ears). Want to like the guy and as a professional doesn't particularly offed me. But as a footballer, yes, agree 100% He is quick, good work rate and isn't bad defensively. But apart from that, no much else. Shame.
