Could've done with less travelling but it seems on the face of it like a good group. Send the second 11 for the away games and make sure we win our home games.
Aren't Anzhi the Russian club who have had to offload their best players as their owner has a few little financial problems? Willian (show me the money) was one of those. The have to play their European games in Moscow as their own stadium is not up to standard.
The northern most FC in the world Tromso and then Russia and Moldova travel wise the worst possible but they should hardly scare us too much should they!
As you say Spurf not scary but a lot of traveling to be done. Should, with our newly rebuilt squad qualify comfortably.
Yep, the travelling is bad news. It's essential a lot of our best players don't travel, IMHO. It infuriates me to see top class players travelling but not starting. Play them or keep them at home. Obviously, rotation, etc plays a part. It'll be a case of judging the games as they arrive, but it has to be correct to keep a lot of players at home rested for the Sunday.
absolute nightmare. are those the 3 furthest away clubs in the whole comp ? thanks goodness we've got such good squad depth now.
Quite fancy a trip to Tromso personally, but direct Gatwick flights only twice a week and not great for Thursdays - apparently a good daytime beer hall there.... Be annoyed if any issues playing those teams - we need to win as many games as poss to get our coeffiecient up, ready hopefully for Champions League next season. If we get high enough points this year then maybe get tier 2 for Champs League (getting ahead of myself), or at very least overtake Liverpool in the seedings!
Nothing to do with behind the scenes discussions between 2 Russian oligarchs then? How much game time is Willian likely to get at Chelsea?
What about Samuel "I'd rather sell groundnuts in my village than play for a pathetic team like Chelsea" Eto'o?
I really hope that we can send out a 2nd XI for these games and still have enough to get through the group. The idea of our first team traipsing around all over Europe and then trying to get back into the swing of things for a Sunday kick-off isn't an appealing one.
Worst travel wise? We should be grateful that we got Tromso and not Shakhtar Kharagandy, from "European" Kazakhstan. Their stadium is closer to Japan than it is to England!!!!!!! But yes, it would have been better if we were flying to Portugal, Germany and France than Norway, Russia and Moldova.
Any idea at this stage when the Europa Cup games are to be played? Spurs are at Cardiff, scheduled for Saturday 21st September, but could be put back to the Sunday if a European game on the Thursday night. Ignore that just seen on BBC that Matchday 1 is for 19th September so Cardiff game will go to Sunday. Cardiff v Spurs always tough for me as supported Spurs since the double and Cardiff as my local team since late 60's. I end up not wanting either to lose and not enjoying the game.

Tromso will be in the snow almost certainly. That has to be a game for players not pencilled in to start v Utd, surely.
