At a guess, someone from our club spoke to someone at his club about his availability and any terms that would be expected. This may have been in person, by phone, by email, by fax ... Hey, it might even have been by text! What are you expecting him to say?
I dont care if you listen to me or not im just saying what ive been told from the same guy who told me about puncheon to crystal palace months ago. Most often or not they dont end up happening but there is always some truth behind it
So... Going back to PTF's earlier post... Samuel Eto'o on a one-year deal for Chelsea. Sensible? Good signing?
It's a horrible signing, but I wonder if Chelsea even cares. It seems to be part of the agreement for signing Willian, which was also pointless. I think Eto'o is still a decent player, but he's not better than Mata or Lukaku. And Willian might not be better than De Bruyne who already can't get into the side. IMO, Chelsea were already favorites in the Premier League with plenty of talent and depth and these moves are just so Mourinho can lay a claim to being some sort of genius because he shuffled around some pieces. Having said that, I don't think Eto'o or Willian will be disruptive to the squad so it mostly comes down to throwing away money at players you don't really need. And money seems to be no object to Chelsea, so I guess why not?
You're comparing apples and oranges though, very different players. Comparing Eto'o, Mata and Lukaku is like comparing Lambert, Torres and Owen. Each brings something different.
Mourinho has a habit of signing players that he doesn't really want/need. He likes to get one over other managers. Well documented that he/chelsea were after Walcott just in an attempt to scupper the deal to Arsenal. Chelsea offered £15m cash, Arsenal £12m spread with clauses, Saints wanted to sell Theo to Chelsa, but Walcott would only go to Arsenal.
Sensible of him...probably got more playing time at Arsenal than he would have got at Chelsea. A lot of big clubs seem to stockpile players that they cannot possibly need...like getting cake ingredients together, then buying peas and lentils because 'you never know'. There is also an element of preventing others from having them. Shows how wise it is for our youngsters to hang around here...the good ones arrive in their twenties with game time under their belts, instead of just a few years hanging around the reserves or going out on loans. Cork is a good example of that...a quality player who was never wanted by Chelsea (should have changed his name to Jacobi Corcorini).
De Bruyne started against Hull and against Man U. He's essentially in the first eleven this season, as much as that exists these days.
Steve Clarke interested in Moses - with his Chelsea links, if he pursues it I'd say that's deal over for us.
I think Eto'o is a good signing inasmuch as Mourinho knows him (worked with him at Inter) and he obviously feels he needs another striker, and it's becoming increasingly clear he won't get Rooney. Eto'o will do a decent job for a relatively small price for a year or so and then he can go back for Rooney or someone else.
Christian Atsu is having a medical at Chelsea and being loaned straight to Vitesse. According to SSN.
Levy has done fantastically well this summer. The appointment of Baldini was tremendous and the talent they have brought in/about to bring in, is superb.
No matter how good Bale is, he is only one player. Spurs now have a proper team with quality all over the pitch.
Paulinho, Chadli, Soldado, Capoue, Chiriches, with Lamela and Eriksen almost certainly to join them. Imagine if they had signed Willian......
Toby Alderweireld on the verge of signing for Atletico Madrid. DeMichelis is supposedly heading for Man City.
