I thought Donnelly put in a good shift tonight ,both in attack and defensively ,some poor decision making regarding his shots on gaol (but that can be expected , away from home in "hostile environment" and looking for his first 1st team goal) but unlucky with his goal being disallowed ,he was fed scraps tonight and it was always going to be hard as the lone striker. Another part of the learning curve tonight passed for both the team and more importantly the management .
Thought the lad did well. Yes he's very raw, and being this is his first, first team action then he acquitted himself very well. He didn't have much quality ball, the shot in the first half was hurried when he had a little more time. Thought he should have squared the ball better to Poz when through on goal, but his player awareness will get better. Closed the defenders down, so did all he was asked to do. Promising showing from the lad, not PL standard as of yet, but with Laudrup probably giving him Capital One cup games he will start to develop as a decent player.
Agree, Donnelly did ok for his first big outing. I some others were a little shy of the mark. Happy with Ki coming on. I think he made a bit of difference. And, Lamah showed ok and finished well.

Well at least it's job done. To answer a couple of earlier questions - Leon was sent off for his second yellow (kicking the ball away). Their first goal wasn't offside (think it was Chico that played him on). The pitch was atrocious, no surprise there. Professional(ish) performance in the first half, but very sloppy and indisciplined in the second and after defending JDG on a thread last night, have to eat humble pie tonight - he had a bad game. Am just happy to have come through tonight without injuries - they were very physical and we got no protection from the referee. We didn't cover ourselves in glory tonight but at least we are in the draw tomorrow; that said, Laudrup looked a very unhappy bunny and think some players will be on the 'naughty step' tonight!
I've not read many comments on this thread, just this page...And I've seen one comment from cartoon-head....JDG had a really bad game, He was so off the pace...The opposition were nothing to give him a real challenge. I've always kind of liked JDG and had patience with him when he hasn;t been brilliant, but tonight, he just looked so off it! I hope he is aware, or that Laudrup gives him a bollocking.
We're all going on a European tour, A European tour, A European tour, We're all going on a European tour, A European tour, A European tour
Never going to happen at the Liberty, the people who now make up the majority of the crowd, do not want to sing (Other than he hymns and arias at the start), some are just to old for it now and the kids just want to play with their electronic games or text throughout the game! We might have some decent atmosphere for the Kairdiff game, maybe one or two others, but for the majority of games we are going to have to accept that the majority of the crowd aren't up for all these singing footy songs and making it intimidating
It would be a start if they clapped to "Michael Laudrups black and white army". They can all manage that
I have to say that while I was a bit disappointed with last night, it seemed a seriously intimidating atmosphere to play in and I doubt the majority of our players would have been through that before. Not just the crowd, the opposition were nasty and devious tricking the twat of a referee all the time. I'm actually proud players like Poz, Michu, Chico & Canas were professional enough not to get themselves sent off in frustration. Ironically it was poor Leon to get his marching orders...Thank god JonJo wasn't playing, he only would have lasted 20mins! That game will see us in good stead if we have to play away somewhere like Turkey.
