http://www.sportsdirectnews.com/premier-league/31214-tottenham-transfers-qpr-plot-late-defoe-bid.php Just can't see it at the moment. However, if we are looking strong at Christmas and Defoe has bench warmed for half a season, that is another story altogether.
He banged in a couple of goals for good measure in Spurs Europa League play this evening. I don't think they'll be letting him go based on this performance of 2 goals in 5 mins:- GOAL- Tottenham 1-0 Dinamo Tbilisi (agg 6-0) - Jermain Defoe (40 mins) Lewis Holtby pokes a ball through to Jermain Defoe and the England international takes it in his stride, finds some space and fires past Giorgi Loria. It was a vintage Defoe strike and will give him some confidence after getting his chance to replace the rested Roberto Soldado. GOAL- Tottenham 2-0 Dinamo Tbilisi (agg 7-0) - Jermain Defoe (45 mins) Wonderful play by Kyle Walker out on the right as he rolls the ball under his foot before playing it to Gylfi Sigurdsson, who plays the ball across goal and Jermain Defoe fires home from two yards out. Looks like he was going for his hat-trick:- YELLOW CARD - Tottenham's Jermain Defoe Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe is booked for diving in the penalty area. Dinamo's David Khurtsilava did make contact with Defoe but the England striker made the most of it - he didn't overly protest the decision.
If he managed to score 28 goals for Burnley last season playing in this league for an average team, he should be able to do a similar job for us once he settles in. Fantastic goal scoring stats so far in his career:- Years Team Appsâ (Gls) 2006â2007 Kintbury Rangers 27 (20) 2007â2008 Hungerford Town 30 (5) 2008â2009 Poole Town 42 (48) 2009â2011 Swindon Town 54 (31) 2011â2013 Burnley 82 (41) 2013â Queens Park Rangers 3 (0) * Senior club appearances and goals counted for the domestic league only and correct as of 20:46, 17 August 2013 (UTC). â Appearances (Goals).
He will sign on deadline day, I have a gut feeling. Especially with the amount of players Spurs are signing
I'd of thought another Prem club would be in for him. I don't think he would want to come to us. If he did it would be for all £h€ wonga rea$ons.
Take the "probably" out of the thread title and you have it. It should read, "defoe again, just false hope". Defoe and Townsend are not coming to us, full stop. Forget it, move on.
There's more chance of signing Scarlett Johansson as club masseur. (Sorry, just got a thing for her. Quite a big thing. Down there.)
These journos are REALLY thick. They don't listen carefully to what Harry says. "Hopefully we'll have a few more coming in. We're going to bring in at least one striker, that's defo'." Nothing about Jermain at all!
Well that would certainly be a better incentive for people joining rather than the QPR Project - only trouble is everyone would be faking injuries to get treated by her
According to a friend who's a Spuds supporter, Defoe rang Woy to ask if A) he was in with a shout for the World Cup b) he would pick someone from the Championship. Woy's reply was a ) everyone one who is playing well and scoring goals is in with a shout (key here is playing) b) It's unlikely but not impossible for a championship player to pick for the final squad. From that it looks likely that Defoe may leave Spuds but unlikely he will go Championship which pretty much anyone can see. Thats not from me a but a friend.
The fact that your mate is a Spurs supporter is not relevant in this instance. Anybody with an ounce of common sense would know that.
With Spurs transfer activity, now would be a great time to raid some players from their squad. Saw Tom Carroll play last night, and he'll undoubtedly attract interest from Premiership teams, but surely worth a punt on a season long loan. The young lad is always looking to pass positively and not this Joe Allen sideways crap which bores everyone to tears. The way I see it Spurs are overloaded with midfielders despite selling Parker and Huddlestone and letting Livermore leave on loan. Even more so if Christian Eriksen signs for them as well. Let's make some moves.
