Carberry in good form though. Maybe take out Morgan, even though he is captain, and put Carbs in at 3.

These two have done well to keep England in this....but it's still mission impossible...3 a ball from now on.

Ah well, i'm going to cheer myself up by watching an Englishman (hopefully) beat an Aussie at the US open...Dan Evans is currently 2 set to 1 up against Bernard Tomic

Luke Wright should be dropped. Doesn't bowl anymore and his average with the bat is poor to average. Mates with Broad though, so he'll stay in.

Interesting to see the england bench all laughing and joking whilst losing & Carbs sat there with a face like thunder. He probably doesn't laugh at Broad's jokes either.

Don't get the england set up, cocks like Dernbach, Bopara, Ben Stokes and Monty get chance after chance despite on and off the field failures, but others get one chance and never get picked again.

England scored well but were chasing a massive score. Did well to get that close. We took wickets at the end with most of the Aussie runs scored by Finch. His eye was in. No reason to think we couldn't win on another day.

    Poor bowling.
    Poor fielding.
    Poor captaincy.
    Poor team selection.

    Four reasons right there.

Luke Wright averages in the early 30s for England in T20 over the last year or so. He also plays in the IPL, which is particularly relevant with the next 2 T20 World Cups being held in the sub-continent. He's worth his place.

    He's better than Carberry?

We will never find out, which is my point, unless you play Carberry at number 6 or 7 which would be utterly stupid.

Wright is the man in the team, he's consistently played well and scored runs for England over the last year. Why would you drop him?

I'm sure they could both play in the same team.

Some of the Hants batsmen need to find some form before next week. 25/2!

Jimmy Adams in particular. What an awful season he's had.

Is it because all the clubs focus is on the one day game, because thats where the money is? Can't remember the last time Hants had a comfortable win in the Championship. They get well beaten far too often.

I wasn't surprised in the slightest that Carberry wasn't picked (once it was confirmed that Root was in the squad), because the only batsmen I could personally justify leaving out was Morgan (who has had a dreadful season in all formats, and hasn't done much for England for a while now). And of course, Morgan is seemingly an untouchable. So no space for Carberry.

He may get given a go in the second t20, he may not. Looking at the ODI squad though, he appears to be a certain starter in that. Potentially opening with Root, potentially with KP.

And after it had started so promisingly as well. As it did for the team in general, thrashing Worcs and being on course to thrash Leics before the rain saved them. But from scoring a mixture of 100s and 0s, Adams lost the 100s and replaced them with even more 0s.

Can't even blame the always dreadfully poor bowlers in this match.

I think Carberry will come in for Lumb tonight, he's got to be given a chance at the top of the order. Although it would have made more sense to give him a knock on his own ground.

I would like him to open in the ODI's and if he gets runs, gatecrash the Ashes tour as back up batsmen.
