That's great if first 11 play all season,no injuries (too late) no loss of form . It's the depth of the squad that needs looking at .Yes we have lost some squad players and replaced them with slightly better but we are ,in reality, just about standing still. Those first team quality signings haven't materialised for whatever reason. Other clubs just seem to get the job done but for two months now we have been linked with players and nothing,apart from cissokho which wasn't actually the 'wow' factor signing we've been longing for, has happened. It can't all be about CL because teams lower than us have made some decent signings. So while the top 4 pull away, aresenal keep us at arms length the teams below are catching up. There are still some quality players looking to move and we just have to go and get them. Also we have spent **** all money and saved a lot on wages, that's what makes it worse.
Center back the most. Then forwards. Two injuries up top and I'd worry. In midfield we have two roles - box to box playmaker and defensive mid. We are god box to box but not defensive mid. Finally the one you missed up top - Goal keeper! If we get our 2 targets in - Illori and this Ukranian bloke (if those are true rumours) and they both settle and do well, over the next 2 transfer windows I'd be thinking: 1 DM, 1 versatile striker, 1 young but promising or experienced (like with Doni) GK and a LB.
Well Enrique is quite built so wouldn't put him in this category, therefore you would have to start with probably Allen and Aspas and work up from there.
Isn't Reina still at the club, no reason we can't call him back if Ming gets injured, he is still our player after all! The one player we will miss if he gets injured is Coutinho, which is why I think we need a good winger to get some more creativity in the team

For what it is worth, I think we need 2 defenders, a DM and another attacking mid, our reliance on Coutinho worries me. Moses would be nice if he hasnt grown lazy from all that bench money chelsea throw at him!
This Not sure how anyone can say Wisdom (after a handful of appearences) is better than a player who was player of the season not so long ago. Skrtel IS a good Prem level, international player. Not the greatest in the world but still a player that would get in 90% of the squads in the Prem. Unfortunately Rodgers doesn't think he fits the magical "system". Well he's had two months to find a defender better than him that we can pay less. Not gone so well that has it.
And at the moment should be ahead of a kid who's hardly played a game in anger at CB (for the first team). Yet he is left completely in the cold through pre-season and the start of the season. I've no problem if we buy someone who's an improvement but until then we have to use the assets we have PROPERLY. It's pretty obvious Rodgers was trying to get away with just signing Toure for CB and three games into the season it's already come back to bite him on the arse....serious deja vu this.
You seriously think BR only wanted Toure? I'm sure if you asked him he'd say he'd love to have an in prime Cannavaro and Maldini but if he has a tight budget then what can he do? He obviously doesn't rate Skrtel (+Coates) but until we find a buyer we won't see an arrival. We won't sell Kelly or Wisdom.
