Now this probably won't last long, all my o/t threads usually get closed down, but.. Here we go again, the next hotspot of trouble in the world, and yep the UK are gonna get involved yet again... First of all planes, no doubt that there will be subs as well. Probably later, ground troops, death of more UK servicemen and woman. Now the question. Should we be getting involved?
Its too complicated to ask a simple yes/no question. Do we have a responsibility to protect innocent civilians? What are the implications for wider regional stability? Is there unanimous backing by the UN security council? If the answers come up in davour of untervention then its still not a cast iron case. Similar things have happened in Sudan, Israel and elsewhere and we havent done a damn thing. I personally think that there needs to be action but only at the right time. When neither side thinks they can win, then we can intervene. While either side think thhey can win then there is no point.
I say keep out: good piece by brian reade: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/brian-reade-syria-make-today-2234545
If "yes" to Syria, why "no" to Zimbabwe? Mugabe's been just as bad, but gets away with it because there's no money in that part of Africa.
If anything does happen then it has to be led by the UN and under their 'umbrella' and not just a western (GB and USA) thing. But agree with above, personally I say no and why only Syria and not others?
No, if David Cameron cared as much about the people in this country as he did about those in other countries we may get somewhere!
A little Island on the edge of Europe. We're gonna get wiped off the face of the earth some time through fooking war mongers like Thatcher, Blair, Cameron, Milliband and the rest of the power mad twats.
444 UK soldiers have lost their lives in afghanistan...that's 444 mothers without a child. Let the politicians send their kids.
We're so self important. No we should not get involved. Can we not stay bloody neutral? Just for once? Civil Wars are very messy things to get involved with and it's none of our business.
To be fair, Miliband seems intent on stopping us going in. Could be his one saving grace in a political career thats dying a death.
Don't think there is a clear yes or no answer. Do we stand by and watch him murder thousands of innocents when we have the capability to stop him? If we do intervene how many civilians get killed in the crossfire? Either way it must be with a UN mandate. How about we contact one of Assads deputies and offer him q lot of cash to topple Assad from within? Or how about a surgical strike aimed solely at Assad. Take the time for special forces to go in, find him and take him out with a bullet avoiding the collateral damage and massive costs of conventional intervention as in Iraq Libya and Afghanistan. Failing that contact Sly Stallone and The Expendables.
Just seen Cameron on tv discussing Syria in parliament and the ****ers making jokes about Jack Straw! I'm glad to see he's taking it seriously. I hate this **** wit more than I can express.
So lets get rid of Assad and let the terrorists take over the asylum. For **** sake..just let them kill each other.
