Dawson reminds me of Modric, or Juninho who used to play for Boro, slight of frame but quick feet and skilful
LIE modric is exactly who he reminds me of exact same type of player, he looked weak v derby cos he was adjusting to the pace of the championship, give him game time he will shine and dodge challenges Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Kissa, could he do a job on the wing? It used to be the case that young midfielders got played out wide, where it was a bit quieter, and gave them time to develop. Not convinced this is still the case generally, but might it work in this case?
Dawson will be fine, he did ok against a physical Derby. A solid loan spell to toughen him up will do the trick. He is genuine quality.
Mowatt played against Donny & me & my mates all commented on what a good player he is. Brilliant debut.
On the subject of Mowatt, we'd better offer him a long term deal if he's not already on one, don't want any Premier League vultures going in for him...
Agree kiwi, think he signed one before end of last season, standard two year graduation deal when turning 18. Big worry is the Prem youth player deal we voted against. As it stands, Prem clubs can take any youngster from any FL club before they turn pro. In return, Prem clubs pay into a fund each season which means FL clubs get a handout of around £250k. This was pushed through by Lge One and Lge Two clubs and a lot of the "smaller" Championship clubs at the time. The £250k was too good to turn down, and the small clubs clearly feel they're not going to produce stars so no threat to them. It's a stupid deal, only the Prem clubs benefit. As we produce more youngsters that break through, so we become a target for Prem clubs looking at our 15 and 16 year olds.
It was scandalous really. 'Give us all your good youth players that you've spent time, money and coaching resources to scout, train and develop or we'll pull the plug on the 250k a year' The smaller clubs cannot really survive without it so they had to accept. Daylight robbery.
Exactly KMiG ... it is probably the most ridiculous and controversial agreement ever signed. To think even Millwall spoke openly about supporting it, their egghead CEO saying that without tbe £250k Millwall would be in financial difficulty as they had budgeted for the money. Unreal!! What needs to happen is that all the FL clubs need to stop paying wages above £5k per week. That will sort their budgets out!
