I originally put this on the non-city transfer thread, but as we're now favourites to sign him, I thought I'd bung it up as a new thread... West Ham forward Ricardo Vaz Te has handed in a transfer request at Upton Park. Vaz Te's future at Upton Park has been the subject of speculation this summer with a number of clubs linked with a move for the Portuguese player. The Hammers are reported to be open to offers for the former Bolton man as they look to trim their squad so that they can bring in more new signings before the close of the transfer window. Vaz Te, who started his first game of the season in Tuesday's Capital One Cup win over Cheltenham, says that he has been forced to hand in a transfer request as he does not figure in Sam Allardyce's plans. "In my 10 years as a professional football player I have never submitted a transfer request nor issued a statement," Vaz Te said in a statement released to Sky Sports. "However, I am frustrated at West Ham United Football Club. "Last season I was asked to change positions for the benefit of the team even though I had just scored 24 goals. "The main objective was to finish top 10 in the Premier League and I followed my instructions to the best of my ability as the club always comes first. As a result even though I was injured for three months no other player made more assists than me and no other winger scored more goals than me. "In addition, since I joined this football club on 31st January 2012 no other player has scored more goals than me in all official competitions to date. "Statistics are evident to all, despite this, it has been made obvious to myself and my representatives that I am not in the manager's plans. "Therefore it is with a heavy heart that I submit a transfer request and look to join a club where my approach to the game will be appreciated." http://www1.skysports.com/football/...-vaz-te-hands-in-transfer-request-at-west-ham We're 5/2 favourites, with Crystal Palace 4/1 and Bolton 12/1.
I saw him here. He wasn't very good. He had a big impact at West Ham when he first went there but I wouldn't want him back.
He'll have more to prove this time around. And he's cheaper than Bendtner, and won't be as much of a cock as the Dane.
He had a brilliant goal scoring record in the Championship for a couple of seasons, but hasn't really replicated it in the Premier League(though he puts that down to being switched from a striker to a winger last season), he would at least offer us something a bit different and he can finish. I wouldn't read too much into his loan with us, he was young, only started one game and only played a total of 190 minutes in his entire time with us.
He'd be alright, he goes through spells of good goalscoring, but he's one of those players that you'd rather have on loan than actually in your permanant squad. That said, he has got a good finish and he isn't anywhere close to the player we used to have. If the price is right, he could be canny addition.
He did OK at Barnsley and also at Wet Spam, might not be a bad addition. I think when he was with us, he was only 20 and probably still developing as a player.
I mentioned him ages back as he was up on Transfermarkt as someone in the last 12 months of their contract. I like him, he's fairly quick and a bit of a flair player. If Brucey can light his fire and get his appetite back he'd be a real weapon.
Yeah but we had him on loan as a Bolton development player. He was like 19/20. He's gone elsewhere and got better. It was the same with Caleb Folan. When we brought him back, his short loan spell from Leeds had no bearing on the player he was when he arrived. And he contributed massively to our first promotion.
That is what Sunderland fans and the media are saying about Jozy Altidore. Agreed. I can still remember his woeful game for us @ Wolverhampton in a 3-1 defeat. Ruddy awful. Yes we can.
I'd rather have Bendtner any day, but he would be a good addition I think, give us more of an edge in front of goal.
His statement after handing in the transfer request: There'll be a few managers on this league who've read those stats and will be having a quick check to make sure they're genuine, very impressive despite a bit of that coming in the championship. We should definitely enquire if nothing else, he's vastly improved since he was here first time round and any comparisons to Jozy are worthless as they have taken very different career paths since each played for us over very different periods of time. Plus you can't deny how he changed positions in order to play which shows a mature attitude, could be ideal
