Bendtner NEEDS playing time if he is to represent his Country in the World Cup. He will take the best deal he can get and I believe that Hull City will offer him the best deal. This would mean that we will have to pay Nick Proschwitz out (I believe this will be in the vicinity of 1-1.5 million quid?) as he is absolutely worthless at this level. Graham hasn't got a cat in hell's chance of cementing a regular first team place with us (imo) so we will need someone like Bendtner who, although he is far from being the sharpest knife in the drawer, can make his presence felt and would be far better than Graham when it comes to taking chances. Can we terminate the year-long loan on Graham? Even then, we are still a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic up front as (again, just my opinion) but Matty Fryatt and Aaron McLean are not even 'bench' players at this level. This leaves Sagbo and Aluko so we will need another striker yet (imo) so if we can send Graham back we could get another loan-in to take his place.
I can't believe people are writing off Graham already, it's pathetic. He had a **** half season at a **** Sunderland team and half of that was under a manager that didn't like him from the off. Not to mention the same manager that has got 'his' team off to a **** start to the season. Give him a chance and not just on the man city game, it'd be hugely unfair to form an opinion on him based on seeing him play against a rampant Chelsea, 30 mins as an outlet when our other 8 outfield players were focused entirely on defending against a team with an extra player and even again this weekend against a team likely to win the league. I agree we need another striker but ffs can all the Graham haters stay quiet until there's an actual valid reason to doubt him.
These people always need someone in the team to slag off – always. It'd be the same whatever position/division we were in. I’d hazard a guess that they’re the same in other aspects of their life too – with their own scapegoats to shift their own failings and inadequacies upon.
Utter, utter bollocks. Sagbo has played in the exact same matches and IMO looks street ahead of Graham to play in that central striker position. There's no denying Graham is a goal scorer, his past record proves that, but he needs to be playing along side Sagbo, IMO, not expect to hold it up on his own.
Again, so naive to say that Sagbo's looked streets better, we've played 2 ****ing games and neither has played more than a game and a half for us. I'm not saying Graham should be expected to hold it up on his own but given the situation at the time that's exactly what he had to do (thanks to Sagbo). Maybe he didn't do an incredible job but we got the result and that was partly in thanks to and not in spite of Graham, if it wasn't for earning the penalty it would have been a result entirely in spite of Sagbo's contribution. For clarity's sake, I'm not saying Graham is better than Sagbo or that we don't need another striker because Graham's definitely good enough. I'm saying that it's frustrating that there's been a few posters that seem to have made their mind up on Graham already and that's ridiculous. Especially with the suggestion we should terminate his loan! Which is where I draw the line and felt the need to respond.
Teams can only be picked on form, and as it stands, in the formation we have adopted, Sagbo is the better choice for that central role. Highlighted when Bruce moved him centrally against Chelsea, and started him there against Norwich. Sods law now dictates Graham will have a blinder in that position against Man City
Almost completely agree my annoyance is directed at those writing him off and suggesting we need to sign another striker because he's ****, not because it makes sense to have an extra option. Especially as I mentioned before, tigerroo's suggestion about terminating his loan. He's now got a chance for at least one game, my only disagreement is that Sod's law dictates Man City will have a blinder and he'll become the scapegoat once again for no logical reason
If the rumours are true he's been told he must play regular football to stand a chance of being in the Danish WC squad, then he should take a pay cut. How much he'd be willing to go down is what would decide it, though if it goes to the 11th hour on Monday night perhaps he'd be slightly more willing to fall into our budget. Big ask but not impossible, TWT
I don't see why Sagbo would be picked ahead of Graham? Sagbo looked great when played out wide, but when he plays in the CF he doesn't stay in position, so the crosses from the wide players are wasted. Neither have scored any goals; we haven't scored a goal from open play so how can you say one is better than the other at this point?
We must have been watching different games as the ball stuck with Sagbo when he was played centrally, it bounced off Graham. Indeed he does tend to wander a little, a bit like Gedo did.
How can you say Sagbo and Graham played in the same position in 2 games, when Graham came on we only had 10 men because of Sagbo so how is that the same?????? .. We are looking for Goal scorers not hold up players... Graham played 55 mins against Chelsea of which 40 mins we were 10 men behind the ball. He also spent half of the time wide out on the left wing and was asked to come back and defend, with Sagbo down the middle and he is not a winger. How anybody can judge a player based on this is crazy
I didn't think Graham did too bad against Norwich, considering he was told to drop back and just hold up the ball. He's got a good footballing brain and nutmegged their defender to set up a chance for Elmo (which he duly fluffed). Thing is, it's going to be another week of defending the players we have as we play Man City next. Graham isn't going to look spectacular against Manchester City, but he has scored goals against the bigger clubs so it's not like he'll be useless.
Unfortunately we're between a rock and a hard place, we can't afford to bring in someone like Bendtner until we off load a few players and I doubt if we'll do that until the loan window opens. By then it will be to late. Just found this article.... http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/story-19723520-detail/story.html?#axzz2cghJiaCs
If we would have to pay 50,000. Perhaps it would be subsidized by Arsenal either in the transfer fee or the salary as they are trying to off load him.
Even funnier about everyone head hunting Daniel Graham, I'd that just 7 months ago everyone was craving for us to sign Graham, a good part of the reason being we would already have a good premier league quality striker should we get promoted. After a bad run for half a season in a dreadful side, and then not managing to score hat tricks in 2 games where the time he spent on the pitch we were backed well and truly to the wall, and he's dismissed as surely as Rowan Vine.
