What if Assem decides we should play in a red kit next season. All of the above would still apply, would you still be a Happy Tiger?
Do you think, when considering everything that's come as a result of this, that it's been a good thing overall? Regardless of opinions on the change, the main regret I feel is that this decision has split fans so bitterly at the start of a new Premiership season. For me, it's put a real cloud over things. I resent that. Just wonder if you think it's been worth it?
Progress? Really, that's your argument? If you'd care to look back at our 109 year history at how far we've come as Hull City AFC, perhaps you'll be suitably impressed with our progression so far. At what point do we need a completely unnecessary name change?
It's totally not been worth it. This should've been a season where everybody was united and behind the club. Any normal person would've waited a few years to make such a drastic change. I imagine they waited until they knew we'd be in more of a media spotlight to do it. Regardless, it was a daft move and I genuinely can't believe we're discussing it as happening. I get the feeling if this was a theory that was being floated about say, 2 seasons ago, barely a single person would've agreed with it. Now it's actually happening people are saying it's a good thing. I'm still in disbelief that this is actually a reality.
All of this cannot possibly be worth it. The amount of cash needed to build a seperate, larger stadium is, according to AA, outside of his largesse. There is no way whatsoever that the name change will make a difference to that. Will the name-change raise the many millions required to raise our transfers to the next level - I very much doubt that too, as it is an endless chase, once began. Some patience over the next couple of years, prudent use of the tv revenue, a sensible level of expectation and a preparedness to build by stealth, rather than rebranding by stealth is the way forward. It's a pointless exercise, it only creates disharmony and except for the failed, insulting and very sad effort by AA on TV, no one has presented a candid, honest or even slightly credible explanation for why this is all being pushed through in such as arrogant and deeply insulting manner. We have had lots of owners and supporters who made this club a viable purchase for AA, a bit of a punt, but truth-told not such a bad deal. The pisser for AA was that he lost the punt on the ground and it's development opportunities, but he won the punt on promotion; good on him for that, but it does not merit a change of the club's historic name.
Always "come on City" / "up the Tigers", NEVER, NEVER "come on you Hull City Association Football Club" At least never in all the matches I've attended. You'll probably shout that on your own, then ! ! In front of your computer, eh !
I think that many still miss the point. The loss of Hull City Association Football Club (The Tigers) Ltd, is not the fans concern. The operating company name means nothing to anyone but the owners and it has varied in its name for years. It is the registration with the FA that is the problem and that is important to the fans and the game in general. Assem and Ehab Allam have both stated that they wish to drop "City" and change the football team name to Hull Tigers. This is worthy of more than debate. It actually paves the way to the teams being branded. We could end up with Hull Tigerairways or Hull Tiger Insurance. If the club owner can call the team whatever he wants without restriction, where will it stop?
It'll probably stop when we get another biased poll from you know who ! ! Are speaking with knowledge of this or just trying to be argumental ?
"City" will be gone and so will " The Tigers" . You will have to shout " tigers". Now that doesn't work for me.
What the hell's that got to do with anything? That's exactly the type of stupid question this poll is based on, and you're using untruths and fearmongering to push your own agenda. What if he did? After firing off some angry emails and tweets would you continue to support the club and team?
I wish a small minority of fans hadn't made such a big deal out of something imo trivial and had the faith to let our owners manage the club so we could enjoy the ride. If it were such a major rift, and there was a major backlash against this, there would have been a lot more fans at that "march" at the weekend.
It's all on public record and that leads to the statements by the owners, club, and FA not adding up. The owners want the club to be known in the business world as Hull Tigers, they have to make a point of separating the business and football, but then change everything surrounding the team name including the wording on the shirt to Hull Tigers next season. What happens if they do change everything and as a punishment they get dropped from the FA?
It appears the FA has said the owners must consult with the fans, before any name-change. Get that into your consciousness, will you? Please? Duh!
A large majority are against a name change, even you must concede that? It's obvious from this thread, every vote, every measure you could come up with.
A large majority from where? Not the weekend. This thread is designed to make it say exactly what you want it to, we've already discussed that, so you can hardly use this as a basis of proof of feeling. You have no proof you're talking for the majority. The majority of fans outside of some internet sites either seem apathetic or they're not bothered by it, otherwise there would be massive demonstrations. I get that only a small percentage of fans use forums, but if there was a huge ground swell of opposition to this, surely the HDM, RH etc would/could run some type of publically backed protest to demonstrate the overwhelming rejection of this, that would at least lay to rest the claim not many knew. Somehow I don't see that happening, because I believe the majority don't mind the change. I happy to be swayed on this by actual numbers, but not by a few people on a forum. Way it looks to me at the moment is, more people were bothered by the bubbling than by this.
I can't tell if you're just being contradictory, barely know any other City fans, or you're an ostrich. As a heavy poster on message boards and social network sites, I find 85-90% of fans are against a name change. No doubt you'll tell me that all the ones in favour don't use message boards and social network sites, but I'm afraid it just won't wash. If Assem wants to let the fans vote on keeping or changing the name, then I guarantee him a 70% rejection. He won't because he knows what the result would be and his recent comments show he has absolutely no respect for the fans anyway. He's done a great thing, he's now done a bad thing, problem is he's too stubborn to admit he's screwed up.
