Disappointing end to his time here, the footage of him yesterday dressed in pink walking past what looked like Jonathan Barnett into offices somewhere was not right.

Even Liverpool managed to keep hold of Suarez after his worse strop.

AAGHH!! dunno what to think, I need to digest this, back later.

Its such a shame the way that Bale has conducted himself over the last few days. All he had to do was to act professional and turn up for training as what was asked for him and his reputation would have been in tact, the Spurs fans will have understood his desire to leave and we will have thanked him for what he did do as White Hart Lane.

Now that he has acted like a petulant, spoilt child, Most Spurs fans have turned on him, quite understandably.

What's funny is that the majority knew he wanted to leave, but he kept a low profile and stayed under the radar for this entire saga and was praised for it! Now he has made his intentions shown and has acted outside of the best interests of the club, he has made himself out to be the villain.

What I find funniest of all is that both Suarez and Rooney more or less stated that they wanted to leave the club, yet both will most probably be wearing their respective red shirt's come September and will play with the same passion and verve that they are known for. Yet Gareth Bale who said nothing for almost all of the transfer window is the one, whom in the unlikely event that the transfer falls through, that is most likely to throw his toys out of the pram and refuse to play!

Its left me with a really sour taste.

I wonder if Bale's actions might cause RM to drop their price thinking they have us by the short and curlies? If so, Bale's actions could end up hurting him.

We'll soon see on that one.

Bale for now is still under his Spurs contract, hence considering a fine (however futile that is now!).

I still await Levy's undoubted dim view of this, I would pmsl if he pulled the plug and shoved Bale in the reserves "till his head was right!", there's naff all Bale or his twat agent could do either. Bale has 3yrs left and no release clause I think, and we know Levy doesn't like being pushed around.

AVB has still only used the word 'could', in what is really an unofficial statement still.

The reality is that taking a hard line with Bale hurts Spurs. Paying your star player £100k pw to do nothing and not sorting out a transfer at the best price available is not good for Spurs. It's cutting your nose off to spite your face. If Bale is set on leaving, which seems indisputable now, this is the best ever time to maximise his transfer value with 3 years still left on his contract and a very keen buyer who will keep twisting as they never know when to stick.

I do agree with you, but it is a very bitter end to what has already been a bitter transfer saga. In the long run it is far more beneficial for Spurs to offload Bale now and receive an enormous transfer fee, but I can imagine Levy wanting to punish Bale for half / whole season, even if it means paying him £100k a week and receiving (say) £60m in the summer. This would cost Spurs up to £35m, but it would act as punishment for a man who's career was created by Spurs and who has been acting like a petulant brat.

To be fair, we don't know why Bale hasn't turned up for training. There could have been broken promises and Bale, being a young male, could be extremely frustrated with Spurs and decided to stay away to make a stance. It's not only footballers who do this - I have done so at my place of work!

I'm still impressed Bale has not vented his frustrations to the media, but I do worry what he might say once the transfer is completed!

Err!....a bit rich from the supporter of a club who kept Ronaldo an extra year, I don't recall you applying all this wisdom there. I also don't recall it when Rooney questioned 'ambition' and wanted to leave before his last contract. Thanks Luke but hollow words from you. <ok>

You're only glad you won't see Rio going backwards trying to catch him!....or maybe he will haunt you later in the CL!

Bale, in 2 days, has done a Modric. Idiot.

but do ya know what? I don't give a ****. its finally over. Did anyone really think he'd stay? - perhaps a few weeks back. But surely for the last month or so, everyone's just presumed he'd be leaving?

At least we're putting a team together that's going to have players who are full of talent all over the pitch, rather than just "1 match winner". - or as opposing fans like to call us, "a 1 man team".

if this window pans out as the rumours suggest, we're going to have 1 hell of a squad, lads.

The insane money we're receiving for Bale is going to do so much for our club in the short term, as well as the future.

I'm bloody excited for this season.

I agree, but i'm not counting any of these other incomings as done yet. We "signed" Willian remember.

Touch wood our deals for Titus Bramble, Shaun Maloney and Kagawa come off! <wink>

Willian was a 1 off. He didn't really want us anyway. It was all an act for a club like chelsea to do exactly what they did, and it worked.
    It won't happen again.

    I hope. <yikes>

Ronaldo agreed to stay for another year. He played most games and scored 26 goals en route to the title. There was no animosity; Ronaldo has - and still has - complete respect for SAF. Bale has refused to turn up for training. If Levy can agree one more season with Bale and negotiate a whopping fee with Madrid for next summer, then fine. But that sounds a bit far fetched, doesn't it?
