Anyone who believes this name-change has got any purpose other than to act as a means for AA to vent his spleen at the City's council is deluded; the negative reaction it has created far outweighs any positives. What I read was someone laying out a trail to the usual pedestal of the hard-trodden supporter , as if the journey is essential to call yourself a Hull City Supporter. Nine or ninety, we are all Hull City supporters, we simply have different opinions on things, from time to time. I didn't call you a knob, I simply pointed out why someone (maybe a teenaged supporter, without your rich history) might be reasonable in calling you that.
So far there is one person who has declared he thinks Hull City Tigers is a better name(others have said they would tolerate it, but not that the prefer it), I really can't be arsed to try and change his mind.
We have had Assem Allam on the box proclaiming the wisdom of it all, so when are we going to get Ehab, NickT, or any other mouthpiece of the club doing the same (rather than apologising for their so-called ineptness); why doesn't the commercial manager educate us doubters by giving good example of his business-model? I think the reason is because they do not agree with either the principle or the manner of it's implementation. The name-change is simply daft, the deception and denigration of the historic club name, along with the total disregard for the supporters, as a group of loyal customers, is appalling and does not bode well for future developments.
Have been on a bit of a football watching frenzy since the start of the new season and it's made me proud all the references to us by pundits and match commentators calling us 'Hull City', I think Allam has completely misjudged how proud the fans are of our history and name. I've not really seen any convincing arguments in favour of being called Hull Tigers, it's just a crying shame that the owner chose to take this action without consulting us as this poll shows.
I am not a supporter of Hull City or Hull Tigers or whatever you end up being called but I think you are right to make a stand unlike the Cardiff sheep who have sold their souls for their trip to the Premiership I think the fans are the club and owners should remember that they come and go but the fans keep the club alive before they arrived and will do after they have got fed up with their latest toy and gone away again, they upset the fans too much and they stay away result a Coventry situation.
Ok sorry for calling you a knob ! If we can let people have different opinions, then surely that's healthy. The alternative would be status quo and we'd all still be living in caves or up a tree and playing football in big heavy leather boots(remember those?) ! For all our differences, we are all supporters of our local football club (see what I avoided there) and should be happy about that ! In naming them abroad as Tigers, in an effort to introduce bigger financiers, surely that gives us the opportunity to compete with the bigger boys I,personally preferred football as it used to be, before all the money men cme in and took away the working mans game.
Which takes us back to the original point, we were already The Tigers, if the club want to market us as that abroad there's no problem with it, it didn't require the club to change name.
Which is the nub of the matter and takes us back to an old man's obsession with his failed council negotiations.
Never thought for one minute that an apology for name calling would suffice on this forum ! Completely taken over by a few posters who will not tolerate other posters coming on and giving an alternative slant. Seems this forum has now been commandeered by the ones who are blinkered and cannot bear for other posters not to fall in line. Watch who replies now to this, with sarcasm, dull wit and abuse !
Can the whole "everyone's against me" act. You've not been ostracised from the forum because you've got a differing opinion ffs!
What on earth are you on about? I responded perfectly reasonably to a point you'd made and you go off on one about posters not tolerating you, you need to chill fella.
You get what you want either way though don't you. If it changes, you're chuffed. If it doesn't, you'll say that's for the best and be chuffed as well, claiming that was your preferred choice all along. Seems like it's the easy option. Easier for you personally. So why the anger at those who actually do care about the change and dare to question the merit of it? I just don't see why you have to be so forceful in your criticism of those who don't like it when you don't care either way, and would be happy no matter what.
Party, posters on both sides of the debate haven't covered themselves in glory in recent weeks. There has been vitriolic abuse by both camps. I don't think that the anti-change posters can claim any moral high ground to be honest
I what to chill ? I've read some of your posts on here and you can be abusive as any of 'em if somebody posts a different opinion to yours. There are lots of people who don't post but still come on here to read about their team. I was one for a long time and been a supporter of "City" since the Raich Carters era. That doesn't make me a knowall but over those 50/60 years have seen more downs than ups ! I'm glad those sad old days look to be over, thanks to the generosity of the current owner. You seem to have a bee in your bonnet about the Allams and keep looking for hidden agendas in every thing they say. I'm not arse licking, like someone will come on here and say, I'm just glad that the good times may be coming our way. We've now got one of the best managers we could wish for who's brought in his own type of player and playing the best football we've ever seen. As I and several other fans have said on here, they will always be the Tigers or City to us. Then you get the Neanderthals who ridicule for even saying that !
