If we were to lose Bony or Michu for any significant amount of time, I would be worried. But we have cover for both the injured players mentioned.
Strength in depth is something the manager has stated we've needed and at the moment w look ok . So far Pablo, De Guzman, Dyer. Shelvey and now Taylor have been out injured with Bony carrying a slight knock so it shows how quickly fortunes can change in regards to injuries .
I'll repeat what I have frequently stated on here: a squad of 22 is just too thin. I wanted 25 and I stand by that.
I'd like another centre half, an out and out defensive midfielder (preferebly around 6ft 3inches) and a pacey striker a la Michael Owen type in his pomp
Yep may be possible to keep squad of 22 happy by doubling up in each position and rotating but a single injury to any one player and things are tight. Unless we have a group of youngster like B davies who ready to step up we need the full squad allowance.
we are trying for 3 players now. whether we get anyone i don't know but i don't think we should pay £2 million+ for a 32 year old all the same...
1. Vorm 2. Tremmell 3. Taylor 4. Davies 5. Richards 6. Rangel 7. Monk 8. Williams 9. Amat 10. Chico 11. Dyer 12. Hernandez 13. Lamah 14. Routledge 15. Shelvey 16. Britton 17. Ki 18. Canas 19. De Guzman 20. Pozuello 21. Michu 22. Bony
I would much prefer to see Camilo Sanvezzo or Jack McInerney as back up for Bony/Michu striker position tbh. McInerney seems to be a more raw talent but that talent appears to flow naturally, whilst Sanvezzo has obviously had the better training in his youth and that shows with his keener eye to setup a goal for another player. McInerney has a height advantage over the Brazilian, and speed, and anticipation as well as being able read play better... he also has age his side. The American would be my first choice, but that Brazilian is pretty good on one on ones and that is the type of goal we need to start scoring again. * Damn, wrong thread
Yet another reason not to lose Ki. Not because he can stand in for Taylor but because with a few exceptions we've been lucky with injuries, and I fear that with our heavy schedule we need all hands on deck.
Bony, Ash and Shelvey missing out in Romania through injury - not even travelling. As I said, we need a minimum of 25 players because the situation will get worse not better.
Bony, Ash and Shelvey should only be short term, I would rather have them back for Sunday where we need to be looking at 3 points on the board
They may have not travelled because the manager doesn't feel he needs them and not to show dirspect to Petrolul ?
I can't understand why Tiendalli decided against agreeing the terms offered instead of being so far left clubless. If there terms were not that great surely they would be better than life on the sidelines and no possibility (at present) of European Cup/Premier action? Be back up for Taylor and Ben, especially with Taylor now out for so long. I hope ML does bring in one or two new faces in before with window closes.
