I tend to ignore the League table until end of October, which is after ten games,or thereabouts. By then a pattern,of sorts, has started to take shape, with contenders contending, and strugglers starting to fall behind. Not foolproof, but an early indication of where teams are at.
Cheers and all the best to you this season. There was a thread on our board for fans to predict there surprise of the Season , many picked Swansea yet the response was '' it won't be a surprise if they do well'' that tells you how much other fans rate your club and potential.
Some good points of view from Boss in those posts, well said mate, good to see fans of other teams rating our manager well, and having a better knowledge of Laudrup than some so-called Jacks!...................
hogwash from fans who don't really care or have a clue.. If they really knew then they would see how we have deteriorated from halfway of last season to now. try and total up the points and come back and then say we have been good.......i really hope we start to show potential or are we overrated and been found out...Im not being funny here but its embarrassing to talk about us as certs to stay up when results don't back it up...we are overrating ourselves on how good we are....I want to see our manager show some skill in out thinking the opposition and not win one game now and then because his record in the premiership is poor after a bright start at the beginning and you can only come to the conclusion that he has changed the way brendan left us a bit to much. you only have to look at the premiership results to see that...Confidence is lacking big time in laudrup's ability so i pray he sorts it out and quick...
Agree Dai Laudrups record in thr PL is poor. Finishing in the top 10 in his first season in the premiership with a new club is not good enough
Dai is just living up to his name. Did you know Daiswanhuwsmate is an anagram for "Aw, isn't he a sad wum!"
I just had a quick look at your end of season form, 2 wins out of 11 which reminds me of when redknapp was manager for us, superb until February, sitting in 3rd then we went on a run of something like 1win in 10. Reason? we had performed above our means for most of the season and it was unrealistic to expect us to carry on that form so a terrible run of results was on the cards. Swansea finished 9th, 3 points behind West brom, and the gap between 8th and 7th was 12 points so if you look at your season overall, you over performed at certain stages, under performed at others but in reality finished where you deserved. Looking at your poor run of form and ignoring the fact your players couldn't perform in both cup and league means you're not being realistic. It's unfortunate but the fact is, the cup run took a great deal out of of the players, and all the focus was on the cup and you didn't deserve to finish any higher.
Some decent points, Boss, but remember that we had a perfectly legitimate goal against WBA ruled out by officials who did not know the offside law. That actually meant we finished 9th instead of 8th which would have been a fairer reflection of our season overall.
I and I guess many other Jacks appreiciate the common sense spoken by yourself and Boss, some fans have gone off at the deep end after Sundays game which I think is really daft, I asked the question while people were laughing at me for saying I was proud of the payers for competing well and that question was " when was the last time we beat Spurs at the Lane ?" of course nobody bothered to reply to that !! My point is that Spurs away is as tough as it gets, we are nothing like a top 8 team we needed to invest massively just to compete in this league this season!, just like Laudrup said actually. Its very early to say how well we will do,after 10 games we will have a rough idea. I think Laudrup is a smart guy and I think he uses games like this to test the water on certain tactical changes while of course trying to remain competitive within the 90 mins. Man utd home Spurs away That's a difficult start for any team in the premier let alone us !
yeah fair point, give or take a win, you was in your right position, just trying to say after 7th, it was unrealistic to have a stand out team so for you to finish 9th even with your bad run, is still a top achievement because you won the cup and had a new team.
Completely agree. I know you will be sick of hearing Redknapps name, but remember when we had that exciting season with modric and vdv, our first two games? man City and Man utd. we got thumped in both. you're right to proud of your players if they fight for the team, even in a Loss, I mean look how much cash we have spent? it's madness, and Swansea are a fab club, play football the right way and have signed exciting players within your budget,, so you have a lot of fans because people appreciate managers with class and a team which plays the right way.
I wonder if Dai is watching Brendan and his team struggling against the mighty Notts County tonight please log in to view this image
Spot on Boss, to many people here are unrealistic with their expectations and its easy to be carried away with our preseason results and some good signings. Last year we achieved a major trophy, something g I never thought I'd see, this year we have to maintain a mid table position to be a success anything above relegation is a result.
you are not looking at the reality and trying to justify us as being good because we finished 9th....do me a favour from 9th down to qpr we were all very poor and its only by luck that we never got relegated. we actually finished the bottom but one on form and that told you the story. We wont be so lucky this time if we don't get our act together and the reason we were so poor is because laudrup changed to many things that brendan installed we even finished a point or two i cant be bothered to check less than brendan.....so don't keep deluding yourself that we were better than when brendan was with us because i can prove we are not by the records that none of you cant do......we won the league cup yes but the league has been poor and at the end of the day that is what matters. we really need to improve as we have the players but the managers ideals and win ratio dont stack up.....I hope he gets better at being able to win games on a regular basis and not just a one off now and then or we will not survive another season. Just because he was one of the best players in the world does not make him a good manager, he has to earn that and he is failing fast.....
Dai - calm down - Manchester United at home, Spurs away! I understand your frustration, but now is not the time to start panicking! I still have faith in Laudrup even if you have lost yours. Chin up mate!
As usual Dia you get your knickers in a twist, when we lose a few games, and it always ends up with you calling for the managers head, any chance you can turn the record over and play the b side please, getting pretty boring listening to your same old!.............
For goodness sake Dai you can only measure it from the start of a season to the end. What happened last season has now gone and we start again and it will only be next May when we can judge how 2013/14 has gone.
Nooooo - the B-Side ends up with him calling for Jenkins' head. Maybe he should release a totally new single!
