Did anyone watch MOTD 2 last night? I only switched over after watching the Bundersliga highlights on ITV4 but i did find it quite amusing watching Shearer trying to grapple with his IPad thingy whilst trying to use his analytical skills on various incidents....It looks like he is up to speed on how they work at the moment......Why do the Beeb bother with this sort of "expert" analysis, it is so out dated. Which brings me on to the ITV 4 show, in an hour they show all the main action from all Bundersliga games, no analysis, no needless talking, just good old fashion action.....it is really rather good and at the end of it a pleasant German lady wishes you a good night from Stuttgart, Muncheon or where ever she is broadcasting from.....
I saw Shearer, his analysis, complete with circles round players and arrows, was so banal as to be hysterical. He described looking in the direction you are going to flick the ball as 'body language' and Paulinho's skill at running between players (without the ball) as 'brilliant'. I love that Bundesliga show, there's so much attacking football. Anyone remember the original Channel 4 Football Italia show with James Richardson, early 90's I think - really used to enjoy that, though probably mainly nostalgia as I'd just returned from living in Italy for a few years.
I like the bundesliga coverage, decent highlights of every game. The German bird makes me laugh too. One week she's presenting in front of river surfers, the next sat in Schumacher's Ferrari. MOTD are limited in the amount of minutes they are allowed to show, that's why they have 30 mins waffling each week. I start watching the show way after its started to skip through the crap, especially as they think anything is a pen 'there was contact' but was shocked to see him think Townsend's dive wasnt a pen although he stopped short or calling it a dive. The sad thing is the BBC think shearer in front of the screen is being trendy.
Shearer is bloody awful in front of the camera, I think it was Rod Liddle who described him as "Mogadon Man" in his Suday Times column the other week.... TBH the beeb would be better to cut done the duaration of the shows and just show the action, cut out the waffle, they could save a fortune in payouts to these experts.....
Shearer with the iPad thing was ridiculous, not what we need. I didn't think the Townsend pen was a pen, but it wasn't a dive either. He changed the direction of his run and the ball so quickly that he put himself off balance and thereafter the slightest contact would have taken him down. The defender was already there, which ain't an offence. The ref was just evening things up for his first half cock up.
Next thing you know they will be going all modern with Max Headroom talking about "Q Q Q PPPPPPPP R".
Shearer would be greatworking for dyna rod, This is a picture of your sewer, he is a picture of the monster turd jamming it up. If I push it this way you can flush, if I push it the other way there could be "contact"
Great post. I prefer the Bundesliga format. It allows people to form their own opinions rather than repeat the lazy mantra we hear on TV by uneducated pundits. David Luiz, Per Mertesacker and David De Gea are/were definite victims of the type of punditry Tramore is talking about.

Absolutely loved football Italia James Richardson was an excellent presenter and the viewer wasn't treated as an idiot. Loved watching Gazza play for Lazio. What a talent. Also anyone remember a ridiculous overhead kick that David Platt Scored?
