Yes, any person's choice of Team of The Week is very much a subjective one but I couldn't help but laugh out loud this morning when I saw that Andros Townsend made Crooks' Team on the Beeb website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23830407 One of the reasons given was that "he provided the breakthrough for Tottenham's penalty against Swansea". So a guy dives and wins the match for his team and his reward is to be picked in a team of the week. You've got to laugh. Even if the guy played well overall the fact he dived should make him exempt from making anyone's team.
Crooks myopia might have something to do with the fact he spent the best years of his career with the spuds, however i agree with your sentiments that Townsend's blatant cheating received sufficient reward on the day, Crooks further accolade just rubs salt in the wounds - pissed me off when i saw his team sheet.
Stop being so biased - Townsend played a great macth and was a constant threat - besides "diving" (I thought it was a clumsy penalty).
"Stop being so biased". Some would say that, "he who is not biased,is not a fan". Bias goes with the territory, mikra. Most supporters are so inclined. The uninvolved spectator can look on with detached indifference, and make a valued judgement, but the supporter sees what he wants to see.Therein lies the difference.
Those who know me here Mikra know I try to be pretty objective when it comes to the Swans, particularly when commenting here. I did indicate that Townsend may have played well throughout but specifically citing an incident where he cheated (and he did) as reason for including him your team of the week is a bit much don't you think? If you thought it was a "clumsy penalty" you really need to look at the replay again.
Yeah, you're probably right - just watched the penalty call again; I'm going throguh a very sensitive time - football-wÃse - I might not be as thought through as I normally brag to be: Swansea has a fine squad and a lot of potential, while my team is reaching new hights of rubbish and no potential at all. I'm likely to filled with envy, and may think optimism is a possibility for you (being bottom of the League). At the same time I can only see Things going from bad to worse in my own perspective. Sorry for being intolerant - and not always reading between the lines...
fair- do's he did give Ben a torrid time that afternoon, but the watching Woy was obviously very impressed as he's called Townsend into the England squad. How many penalties did we win last year? Nate and Routs pls take note..........
