Sky are reporting that both us and Everton had lodged bids for him.

Let me guess, our bid is significantly and unrealistically lower than his market value...?

Academic anyway and they know it – Everton a far more attractive proposition at moment, better squad and with a manager he's already worked for.

I would suspect the bid was only made in the knowledge Everton had got there first.

    Boring, utterly boring.

Afraid there's not been an #nufc bid for McCarthy. Club like him but they won't buy a Cabaye replacement until he goes...

Penny wise £ foolish. Wont pay an extra salary while Cabaye is still here and end up having to join a bidding war and end up paying more for a replacement.

non started it's the old Bryan Ruiz again.. we bid for a player already nailed on with another team, just to say we tried.

Sometimes i feel sorry for Pardew, but then again i couldn't care less.

If Wigan think he is worth £15m, JFK will bid £2m

To be fair, it was probably a lot of money and he's not exactly the hold it up, heading beast we're looking for.

He's not a giant of a striker, but he's very strong when on the ball and has very good movement. He'll drop deep to come get the ball too and is very clinical in front of goall.

Although all of the above is only based on the 12-15 games I've seen him play so it's not exactly gospel. Just disappointing to know that we're not interested in a young, British goal scorer.

He's probably been offered to a few PL clubs but Blackburn will be wanting too much for him.
Bearing in mind his career to date has been spent in the lower leagues with only last season at Championship level, I cant see us being the club that takes the chance on him. No one really knows his level yet, so will be reluctant to spend big on him.

We won't buy a Cabaye replacement until January, possibly next summer.

At the moment we need some fresh faces, Christ a week left and the only reinforcement is a loanee who is currently injured! We really are a ****ing embarrassment.

Dave Whelan just been on talk sport confirming a club has made contact about McCarthy within the last two hours...also reports on twitter that another bid has been made for Cabaye.

Probably Everton in for McCarthy but thought I'd share the news.
