Let's say someone hits the bar from 25 yards that would surely be unlucky and a good attempt rather than been clean thru and miskicking it into keepers hands. Yet the latter is classed as the better attempt by Sky it's bullshit from Sky.
If it stops on the line it's off target just like a golfer pulling up short with a putt. There's a huge difference between "in-line" and on target. As for the sky stuff you are wrong IMO. A shot from anywhere on the pitch which is off target will never result in a goal where as a on target shot will always result in a goal* and must be counted as a better chance. * Obviously when calculating these they have to remove deflections saves and blocked shots. This is why a wayward shot which is deflected into the goal by a defender is counted as a own goal.
