Do you really think Osvaldo would be happy to play at Barnsley? Now I'm sure we all think he should play every time he's asked, but I suspect Mauricio will choose his battles wisely. He's been lured here for the Premier League...not the time to expose him to the seedy side of English football.
He should play wherever he is picked. This shouldn't have to be bought into consideration when making the team selection.
Yeah if he's not happy to play at Barnsley we shouldn't have signed him. It would be his first start for us, if I were him I'd be champing at the bit to get out there and start scoring, no matter where.
Yes he should be made to play but he seems like a player you may have to treat with kid gloves, at least until he settles in. I think diplomacy is the key with him. And anyway he shouldnt be needed to beat barnsley provided our other players put in a good shift.
IF he doesn't start/isn't in squad for Barnsley, can we please not have conspiracy theories about how he doesn't want to play in the small games. Please.
Don't see any real significant benefit in playing Osvaldo tomorrow unless Pochettino believes he needs a run for fitness reasons. He won't be playing alongside many of his future 1st team colleagues
Obviously how rumours start. I suggested it and all of a sudden everyone believes it. I just can't see him playing as, contrary to what every manager says, the team at this level will not be the main players.
I agree with you both, however if I was the manager I wouldn't pick him for Barnsley. He doesn't "need" fitness and I'd have him working with Lambert/Jayrod/Lallana/Gaston in training ready for Norwich.
Probably on the bench without doubt for the last three. My starting 11 would be ---------------K.Davis---------------- Chambers---Maya---Hooiveld---Fox --------Cork----------S.Davis-------- Isgrove--------Guly-------Rodriguez ---------------Mayuka---------------- If all fit and available.
"with a number of development squad players in consideration for tomorrow first team game against Barley Martin Hunter was forced to shuffle his pack". Could well see them play or make the bench. But who?! I do worry about putting too young a squad out and getting thrashed like last year. All for putting out squad players but want us to take the cup seriously.
Not sure why everyone wants chambers to start when he's playing in the most taxing position on the pitch, albeit he doesn't bomb forward yet. Mentally he has had the toughest 2 weeks of his life, and it would be a good time to rest him as he's going to be picked for the norwich game on the bench or starting. ------------Britt-------------- Cork---Maya--Hooiveld--Fox --------Davis-Reed---------- Isgrove---Guly---Rowe ---------Mayuka------------ Not a very strong team going forwards, but they could score, and I think the defence will be solid.
Chris Dagnall is the main danger for me. We should have way too much forthem though whichever side we play. Just comapre the players available compared to Leeds last season!
I can't understand why people on here are saying not to play Osvaldo. This is the perfect game for him... No pressure against a lower league side. Don't forget we will still want to get him fitter and to learn to play in the system we play. If he doesn't want to play against Barnsley a week after we have signed him then we have seriously got ourselves the wrong player.
All managers are the same. I really hate that they all say we will take this competition seriously and then play a mix of youngsters and first teamers. Even top clubs have come unstuck doing that. It's not that our players will be poor...because they won't be...but they won't have experience of playing together as a group. I suppose it will test the notion that all our players are trained in the same way and are interchangeable. If this cup is viewed as being useful for giving game time to players, then at least be honest about it. Have to point out that I dreamed last night we played a poor side and were 0.0 at half time....hardly surprising as I was playing up front
Firstly, he hasn't said he doesn't want to play; someone on here just rused that. Next thing it'll be in the national press. Secondly, why do you think he needs to get fit? He's already fit. I understand the point about getting to know the system, but what do you think they do in training every day?
