McAnthony said £750k was insulting so they'll definitely want over a mil. I admire that they don't sell cheap, but it bit them on the arse with Boyd and it might do again now. White might well have the potential to go on to be a much better player than he is now, but as things stand he just isn't going to get that chance here, so if we can move him on for £500k or so it would probably be best for us and him.
So? They don't need to sell him, they have more than enough money from the Gayle deal. He's arguably their best player, they stand a much better chance of promotion with him. I know we have a habit of selling our best players for peanuts, but not every club does. Plus there's always the possibility he may have a change of heart if they get promoted. Snoddy was in the last year of his contract and he went for £3m...if I remember rightly, Howson had 6 months left on his contract and was still sold for 7 figures. Length of contract only makes a difference if the club want to sell the player - Peterborough don't want to sell Rowe, so he stays, barring a ridiculous bid. He is a very decent player - but he's not for sale, especially not for 400k, that's why nobody else is interested!
More like 8 mil to much. Gayle wasn't exceptional during his last Championship season (6 goals in 20 appearances for Posh) and at 23 has no Premiership experience yet Palace spent 8.5 mil on him...Posh must of been laughing all the way to the bank while we sold quality players like Howson and Snoddy for less than a quarter of that. Kinda puts it in prospective when Barca sell David Villa for 5.1 million euros (about £4.5 million).
