http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/get-inspired/23754457 Liverpool Player: Jordon Ibe (17) Position: Winger Nationality: English Player you would compare to: John Barnes Why will this player be a future star? Quick, strong and uses the ball well. At 17, he is mature in terms of physical stature and is a cut above in terms of the maturity of his play. Ibe can beat a man and has an eye for goal but he's not flash for the sake of it. John Barnes is a legend in my eyes - I don't think I've seen a player with better balance when on the ball. If Ibe gets anywhere close to the player Barnes was I would be very, very happy indeed? Thoughts on Ibe maybe reaching a similar quality?? It would be nice but that a hell of a weight to put on a very young players shoulders. Why can't he just be the next Ibe...?
I'd be over the moon if he got close to Barnes He's still very young and raw so putting this pressure on him he could do without I reckon. But he does look an exciting prospect, maybe we'll see some of him tom night? P.S You got it on you tonight Tobes or what?
Got to agree with Tobes here....that's some Emirates strength ganj you got there Sky Digger was the black Pele
At 17 he could turn out to be a world class player in the future or just another footballer, none of us know. Who noticed John Barnes at 17?
always thought glen johnson was similar to barnes. not as good but still similar in terms of dribbling down the right and getting crosses in
I didn't compare him to Barnes - the ****ing BBC has. The strength of my weed has nothing to do with this
Sorry mate....Tobes started it Ibe looks a good player I've got to say but any comparisons are meaningless yet. If he's half the player of JB we'll all be happy. Hope he gets some game time against Notts County
If he's a quarter of the player I'd be happy I know Tobes started it - but he's just bitter I don't really see many similarities between the two to be honest, except they're Black and play on the Wing! Ibe isn't even a Jamaican bredda....
This really annoys me when comparisons like this are done, because one of the main criteria is race/ethnicity. Why can't Ibe be likened to players he is similar to in terms of play style? It's like when every promising defensive midfielder, who happens to be black, gets called "The next Viera".
