Ahem, Craig! Your poll lumps pro-'Hull City* Tigers' together with 'don't cares'. But really the 'don't cares' should be named under option 3, don't you think? * You should also have made space for the ultimate name: Hull Tigers.
The more I see of this argument, the more I feel the two camps are being miss named. The "anti change" faction are split into those who want to keep AFC or City or both, the "pro-change" camp is being inadvertently swollen by those who are not pro, but rather are not actively against. I would suggest the phrase "don't care" should be replaced by "don't mind". So a more accurate poll should solicit votes from those who are "Against Change" and therefore, effectively all those who don't vote for that position are "Don't Mind".
I think you better explain to all those who have added AFC to their name that it's no longer an option. Good luck with that one.
Craig - your signature will become/is becoming an anachronism. It'll have to be 'Leave your Hull Tigers stories for posterity'. It'll inevitably become hypocritical. 'Posterity' will be a joke.
My poll wasn't aimed to find the people who don't care. It was aimed to find which choice the people who do care prefer. I also explained in my OP on the poll that "barring what might or might not happen in future we are currently confronted with two choices." For all we know Mr Allam might go ahead with the Hull Tigers name or he might change his mind.
Not really. As OLM pointed out in his first post on this poll, there are 1800 members on this board, so in fact A has only attracted a 5% vote (to date), which is hardly a ringing endorsement of his position.
Having seen the way the polls have been worded; and also having seen the arguments over their validity, I believe that only a poll set by the Electoral Reform Society could suffice.
84% voted to remain Hull City, that's a fairly ringing endorsement. Only 16% voted against, I'm afraid that just with any other vote, those who can't be arsed don't count.
Being willing to accept positive change isn't an act of betrayal. History is intended to document a chronological evolution of (in this case) our football club so it can grow without losing its past. History isn't intended to put a padlock on change, if it did we would all still be hunting with spears.
84% of those that voted, voted to remain Hull City. 5% of the number of members we have on here I think someone said (can't be arsed checking that, taking it at face value)? Hardly an endorsement. I didn't bother voting, along with seemingly 95% of the members of this board because we couldn't be arsed responding to a proper stupid poll that's clearly aimed at one specific result, thus enabling you make out you have major support, even though you clearly don't, as the "Protest Ramble" on Saturday proved. I'd prefer us to be called Hull City. I'm ok with Hull City Tigers. I don't care about the AFC. I'd be less impressed with Hull Tigers, but I'd just ignore that anyhow and carry on calling us Hull City. Can I claim that as that wasn't a choice in your poll, the 95% agree with me? This poll is worse than the one that was taken down, though obviously the mods aren't going to take yours down. The fact you've had to explain stuff about the 2 options, which are at complete odds with the way its presented kinda shows how silly this one is.
In my opinion Hull City Tigers is a better name than Hull City AFC. It combines all of the words we use to refer to our club and doesn't have a redundant suffix which no one has bothered with until now. People are arguing to keep AFC because it exists, not because it's the best name. If our official name was 'The Association Football League Club of Hull City' the same arguments being used now to "save our AFC" would apply. People don't necessarily want AFC, they just don't want change even if it's better.
Nice try, but as the Status Quo is what Assem wants it is up to you to prove your position. You deliberately skewed the poll to demonstrate your point. In fact you have garnered only 5% of the people on here in support. As the 1800 on here represent only a small proportion of fans over all, your "support" is looking pretty sick so far.
Good luck getting some on here to understand that, I've tried no end of times, although I like the way you've put it more than the way I've explained what "history" is in the past.
Also believe a lot of people will now dessert this forum because of all the name calling posters on here. It was sais, by someone more eloquent than the posters on here. that if you have to stoop to name calling and abusive comments "then you,ve already lost the argument"
