There the obvious £60,000 reasons... Plus the fact he is meant to be a role model

Agree with you, £60k a week should matter and being a role model for a club like ours should be high on his agenda.
Personally, I think he is being unprofessional, but I'm also coming round to the idea that the club are also looking after their investment until he is either sold or the transfer window ends.

I don't think money comes into with him and good role models are few and far between in football these days.
It's just a job for most footballers these days, and whatever he is being paid, he'll get that elsewhere.
You hear them on, its all about project this and project that, not about the shirt anymore with no allegiance to anyone but themselves.

I'm not sure he would have made that much a difference yesterday, had he played it would probably have been at the expense of Anita anyway and it wouldn't have changed the fact that we had a pair of powderpuff girls up front.

If he has refused to play then that's just bang out of order.

I'd refuse to budge if it were me. Drop him into the reserves as punishment and leave him there until next summer. That would almost certainly screw his World Cup chances up!

Sadly this is NUFC and I can't see us holding out and refusing to bow to player demands!

No excuses for Cabaye. Just poor on his part. Conspiracy theories about the club are all well and good but it is far more likely his toys are out the pram again. He is a complete twat, and an unprofessional one at that.

I appreciate your own opinion WP. But I must say, I'm a bit surprised that you've been so quick to chastise Cabaye.
You're normally so reasoned and measured with your opinions regarding NUFC - especially Pardew. Yet, you seem to have taken hearsay as gospel and can't see this being anything but the actions of a petulant footballer. To dismiss the other side of this, or 'conspiracy theory', as you say, is a bit hasty, don't you think?

The fact that the club acted in an almost identical fashion around the Carroll transfer, suggests that it isn't a wild theory. Simply reading between the lines is all it takes to conclude that all is not as it seems, with regards to the Cabaye situation.

There has been no direct quote from anyone that Cabaye has 'refused to play', just gossip trickled down from journos - Lee Ryder is great at feeding misinformation on behalf of the club.

All it would take from a journo is to ask Pardew "Will you be fining Cabaye for the period that he has refused to play?". The fact this simple question hasn't been asked, speaks volumes to me.

    Anyway, to each his own.

ps. I'm not saying Cabaye doesn't want to leave - I believe he does want to leave. I just don't believe that he's 'on strike'. I think he's being wrapped in cotton wool, until the correct valuation has been met.

I'm not dismissing it completely, it is possible. I just think on balance it seems wholly more likely that he doesn't want to play because his head isn't right or Pardew feels unable to pick him. We know he has issues/demons from his comments about being depressed, and we know how petulant he is from waltzing off the pitch in a huff when Derry nailed him, despite there being nothing wrong essentially (predictably trained all week and played the next match). He is a talented lad, but I'm just bored of all his bull****. He seems to forget he only turned up for roughly 2 games last season.

I can't see the similarity with the Carroll situation? Carroll was actually injured (thigh injury) and there was no mention of refusing to play etc. As for Carroll being forced out, I felt that at the time but speaking to people who know him, they reckon as much as club wanted 35m (completely understandable), he was not too disappointed to go and pick up monster wages. I think it was a deal that suited all parties more than we were led to believe. Just seems a very different situ to be honest.

Pardew was very open about Spurs interest in Cabaye last summer and indicated he wanted to go then. Its not so much that he is refusing to play, its that his manager has confirmed he can't pick him because his head isn't right. I find that unprofessional and have no reason to think Pardew is lying. I just think the fact Cabaye has not spoken out says more than the club not hanging him out to dry (they might end up keeping him remember if they can't agree a deal). Not playing seems to suit Cabaye more than it does the club. I don't think anyone would have a problem if the club said "he's going so he's not playing".

Fair play Pouchy. I can't argue with your thoughts on that.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this all pans out. Will be interesting to see what quotes come from Cabaye, when he goes (or stays).

The truth is, we may never find out what's really been going on, as is the want of the club to feed us such little information regarding anything at all.
