Something I responded too on another board prompted this.

Artists that Knocked on Heavens Door before there time and died too young.

In some cases, before the world saw the best of them - we'll never know I suppose.

They might have died, but the Music has lived on, so celebrate the time we had with them.

Paul Fox - Guitarist with The Ruts
11 April 1951 – 21 October 2007
Age 56

One f****** good guitarist......

The following Video is from the final gig Paul Fox ever did a few months before he died.
The singer is Henry Rollins, who was approached to replace Malcolm Owen for the night.
He does very well considering he was in awe of the band.

There's a good documentary with the remaining Ruts and also a Stand-up show by Henry Rollins on the gig.
Both are worth watching.

IN MEMORY OF THE LEGEND

JOE STRUMMER

21st APRIL 1952 - 22nd December 2002

I could have picked god knows how many vids, but I've gone for this of The Clash performing in Munich in 1977.
There might be better out there, but, I think it shows The Clash at their raw best, with a young 25 year old Joe Strummer showing how he could cut it.
Also a lot of the focus from Hate and War onwards is on Joe.

The song listing is;

London's Burning
Complete Control
Hate and War
Police and Thieves
Prisoner
Janie Jones
Garageland

If you like The Clash, I hope you enjoy, and if you are a Clash hater, well that's your miss.

Buddy Holly. Tragically killed in air crash at the tender age of 22. Influenced many artists since, including Rolling Stones and Beatles. Just before his death he composed True Love Ways, signalling a change of direction. One wonders what he might have gone on to achieve. RIP <peacedove><peacedove><peacedove>

Bob Johnston the music producer died last week. Man at the helm for Dylan's, "Blonde on blonde" and Johnny Cash's "At Folsam prison". Also produced Leaonard Cohen, The Byrds, Simon and Garjunkie, Loudon Wainwright III and Jimmy Cliff. He was also responsible for the first version of fog on the tyne. He even produced one of the tracks from the Waterboy's "Fisherman's Blues", but we won't hold the last two against him.
