We are two games in, two wins in and two clean sheets in.

But some one has been missing from that. Martin Kelly.

Wisdom has been on the bench for both games even though Rodgers has spoken about him possibly going on loan.

Martin Skrtel has been linked with a move away so he has not featured.

Kelly had a big injury but they say he is completely recovered now. Before he was injured he was starting every game and doing very well and signed a big contract last season. But during pre season he was barely involved in the friendlies.

I am a big fan of Kelly. He is big, quick, strong, works hard, tackles hard and is good on the ball. He is also local and loves the club. But I fear he is not in Rodgers plans any more. Our money people also love trimming the wage bill.

Could Martin Kelly's Liverpool days be coming to an end?

    hope not,

if we have to get rid of a defender, rather SKrtel was the first to go, bit worried about Kelly injury problems and seen some say its growing pains, but if he keeps getting injured his time may be up, but we had this with Agger as well and he touch wood is ok.

Kelly problem is Wisdom and MClaughlin are probably going to get more chances than him at RB at some point as he is always injured, and don't see him getting chances at CB,hopefully he will stay fit and show what he can do.

I'm a big fan of Martin Kelly, but glen Johnson is first choice left back and dan agger nd big kolo have been immense. Kelly will get his chance, just needs to be patient

    Not a chance.

His injury was extremely serious and he's got to be eased back in. We don't want to do to Kelly what we did with Lucas at the start of last season. (Bring him back too soon and him to pick up another injury)

He has played for the Under 21's lately and is building up his fitness. The best course of action in my opinion.

Add into the equation the fact that he signed a new contract in February of this year (When he was still injured) tells me that the club and Rodgers have high hopes for him.

You don't go handing out new long-term contracts if you don't rate a player.

  7. No chance. Skrtel and Coates are not BR type CBs. There is no way Kelly will be going anywhere unless others come in first. IMO, he's shouldn't be going anywhere anyway.

My question on Martin Kelly has been answered:

Brendan Rodgers has admitted that Liverpool defender Martin Kelly is still 'some way off' the required level of fitness to be available for selection for the first team.

Kelly skippered the Reds' U21s team to an impressive 4-2 victory at Manchester United last Monday as he continues his recovery from a serious long-term injury.

Rodgers explained that the defender will not be considered for selection against County, however, as both the player and the manager are aware of the necessity for patience in his comeback.

"Martin won't be involved - he's still quite some way off match fitness really," said the boss.

"Credit to him, he's working ever so hard and that will be frustrating for him. He felt himself after those early weeks coming back into games that he was a long way off where he was the year before.

"That's just going to take time, there's no quick fix. If you have been out for a year it sometimes takes you near enough that to be back to your best.

"The most important thing for us is to nurture him back through his fitness and his match fitness. We have a behind-closed-doors game here on Wednesday that he will play in to help his fitness."

Yeah, I watched last weeks U21 game and he was very slow and not game sharp: that's an observation due to such a long time out not a criticism as I like Kelly. But if he looked like that in the reserves he's got some way to being sharp enough to replace a current first teamer. Better that than getting injured again.

He's tweeted "my time will come" so obviously still positive.

This should indeed be his time to step up again.

We'll know more about his position in the team in the choice for CB's this weekend.

Rodgers said earlier today that Kelly is struggling still with his fitness after the injury and is not able to play atm. He could need a little while longer yet.

Maybe Cissokho's injury isn't too bad.
