Your back to telling lies again by the looks of things.

I didn't mercilessly criticise our players after the Man Utd Game I constructively criticised our defending, which 90% of swans fans tended to agree with . Why don't you go back and have a read of it properly ?

If you think we were **** today then that's your choice, unlike you I respect other peoples views and understand that they are entitled to them just as much as me .

What I saw today was a team trying its best to compete against un fair advantage ,that was totally different to the Man utd game where our woeful defending was punished to the full, the difference here was that we looked like a team that knew it had to be at 100% to get anything where against utd it looked like we thought we were bertie big bollocks who just had to turn up and spray a few passes around to beat the premier league champions <ok>

I will never fault my team for effort, even if the football wasn't fantastic, there were plenty of below performances today but the major talking point for me and many others was how we were restricted in our play by a referee that protected only one team..the home team.

That as a fan of football, let alone the Swans is what incences me more than the fact Rangel spent more time pointing at players instead of defending against them.

We got stiffed today, the football was fine and tactically spot on, if you think different that's fine with me <ok>

So you think there was no effort today then ? ...<laugh>

Judging by the amount of times our players were screaming at the sky infrustration and by the shouting that Ash,chico, vorm, canas and rangel were doing id say you are slightly off the mark .

Where was the effort for the first 75 minutes?
And Rangel was pointing because he and Davies were often left to defend 3 or 4 Spurs players as deGuzman, Canas, Pablo and to some extent Michu were in La LA Land.

Yes the ref was a joke but we didnt deserve anything out of that, we were poor and so were the tactics, far too negative. you cant invite an offensive team like Spurs onto you like that, it was inevitable they were going to score and Laudrup should have seen that. Shelvey and JDG should have gone half time, we had no grip on the midfield and our passing all round was rubbish by our standards. I do agree on Pozuelo though - has to be a starter.

    Correct, Bob/ exiled/ Ramblin'.

Don't want yet another war with you NJ and you're entitled to your opinion. Why you feel the need to resort to personal insults when someone disagrees is beyond me. So here's my opinion and you can like it or lump it.

Yes, you criticised our players v Man U when at least three of their goals were exceptional, yet you're 'proud' today when we were inept front to back against a very under par Spurs. I read out your opening line about being competitive to a bunch of friends (including BigKidderz) and we all burst out laughing.

I hate slating our players but they deserve every brickbat today. Truly terrible. Yes, the ref was poor but that cost spurs a pen first half too. That shouldn't have made a difference. Bony was brought on 20 mins too late and hardly any of our players put together more than a couple of passes.

If you're OK with that then fine. <ok>

There was plenty of effort in that game, im not accepting we lacked effort.

Disagree about rangel also, he should be doing his job as defender first not getting bent out of shape then trying to reorganise because he is out of position.

As ive said before,a defenders job is to defend, against teams like Spurs you keep your discipline, rangel and also Davies didn't do this. There is a time to move forward , you don't do it when you need to keep shape, rangel is becoming a little bit too much cavilier in his approach, our wide men float around, that's how we play its the reason our full backs need to be solid, they arnt doing what they should be doing!!

We don't play a standard wide player in front of the full back so we cant afford our fullbacks to be positionally weak, pointing at other players was very often because rangel was caught flat footfooted to begin with <ok>

Who cares if you feel the need to read it out to your mates , I couldn't give a flying fook if they laugh or not, who the fook are they or you ..or me ??

You think what you like on this one, I think what I like, I don't fault our players today, you do . trange how I never call you negative for holding that view but you do if I say what you said <ok>

I'm not sure I'd go that far Dai they were almost as bad. I had them nailed on 4th but I'm changing my mind rapidly.

I can take losing but we were really awful - worryingly so - and we need to improve considerably if we are going to get close to top half this season. Just my opinion.

What kind of result do you people expect for us away at spurs ?

You think what you want to think, if you thought we were rubbish that's up to you but as I said early on the ref dictated the flow of the game and there was no way we were going to be allowed anything from that match .

I will repeat what I said, I was very proud of the players today, they did well for me, if we played **** then we would have got a hammering ,we put in effort and tried to contain spurs and play for a point, this was the correct thing to do <ok>

This touches on what I was saying earlier regarding our fans, there seems to be an expectancy that we should be rolling the likes of Spurs over on their own gaff for some reason, it seems that there are people that think our football is not good enough when we don't ppass the ball sideways and backwards 600 times in a match, that was a trick that bought us a bit of time n the premier league,to succeed we had to evolve.

We saw it in the threads against Man Utd when many were going for a win ,there seems to be an attitude shift in what we as a club are all about, well I have to say that I can only speak for myself here but we are still an underdog in this league, last season flattered us a little bit, we are not a top 9 team ,never have been maybe some of the Jack faithful need a reality check ..........ITS SPURS AWAY ,WHERE WE NEVER WIN !!

What was I expecting? I'll answer: a loss. By about 2 goals.

But Spurs were poor today. Trouble is we were appalling.

Said before, I can take a loss but playing that badly when our players earn more in a week than most do in these parts in a year is unacceptable. To me, anyway. We gave te ball away for fun. There was little or no understanding between the players, nothing came off. we were inept as an attacking force. Bad timing on substitutions, you name it.

    Best forgotten imo.

NJ: you're all pragmatic now so why criticise our players for losing v Man U when we actually played a lot better in that game? We didn't expect to win that one either yet you absolutely slated our defence for letting 2 world class strikers score.

"were competitive all over the park" is still getting laughs here. Sorry. <laugh>

Huh ? im confused. what has the man utd game got to do with this game ?

You want to know why I made a thread giving my thoughts on the Man utd game ? does that really need an explination? I thought that's what a message board was all about!

You seem to forget that we were playing Spurs, you say they are a poor team,on what basis do you say this, is it by the £60m worth of talent they had on the bench or the £200m worth of talent on the field> ...<laugh>

Im laughing here too fella, especially as the statement of the year was born today, which was

"Worst performance for 3 years" Knackered Jack .

    .....<laugh>

And you thought I was a funny guy!!.....<laugh>

You'd better start laughing again then because in the context of the game, Pablo did OK. I don't think he was MOM, or anywhere near, but he threatened a number of times out wide and kept trying to make things happen - lot of worse Swans on the pitch than him, imo.

JdG for instance: a player I have long been moaning about. When there is a tough game in prospect, this guy shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the subs bench (or the ground) let alone the starting line up. He is a flat track bully; great when he is allowed the time to perform against "lesser" teams but disappears under pressure. We can't afford his slow, one-paced approach to the game. JJ is heading that way too unless he's careful. We need drive and energy in midfield, which I thought JJ would deliver. Seems he can deliver against weaker opposition but struggles to exert any influence or authority when we play a decent side.

Rangel didn't have a good game either - criticised for being caught too far up field on occasion. He was, but stop and think that he might have been playing to team orders. He wouldn't be doing it of his own volition that's for sure. Ben had a 'mare and his defending was rank at times so that didn't help allowing us to be exposed on both flanks.

We shaded the possession stats and had parity with shots on target. Towards the end, our changes gave us the upper hand with Poz definitely an influence. This is a class player that must start more often. Think how much better he'll get with games because he missed out a lot the last two seasons with injury. Big player for us when he really finds form.

Bony will also be fine when he hits the straps - we just need to get decent service in to him. He'll miss a lot but he'll score a lot as well. I'm confident he'll get his 15/20 goals this season.

What worries me most is that we are still too lightweight in the middle of the park. At times our players were swatted away as though they were irritant flies. We need a strong athlete there and not as a holding midfielder. We need someone to win it further up the field so we can launch attacks quicker. Right now teams have all the time in the world to organise while we pitter-patter our way up field.

Much food for thought but we will get it right.

I think context should be applied here peeps, we were at White Hart Lane and not many teams will walk away with just a 1-0 loss. I think Spurs will be battling to qualify for Champions League this season, they are prepared to lose Bale and seem to have more than adequately replaced him by strengthening in other area's where they see they were 'weak' by their aspirations. They are a Top 4 team this season in my humble opinion, I think that team will force will force Arsenal out of the Champions League spot.
