McDermott has the Leeds team well organised. We are no conceding goals for fun anymore and our forwards look dangerous.
McDermott is the best thing to happen to Leeds United since they signed O'Dea. In all seriousness, he is a cut above anything you've had at Elland Road since you came back into the Champ. But today is going to be a good day for us.
From what I watched (from about 15 minutes) Leeds were better all over the pitch. I thought were were supposed to be composed at the back, there were far too many completely aimless balls up-field. We looked all right when we actually took our time to pass but we still couldn't find a way to trouble their defenders. Not impressed.
At least the Leeds fans reminded me why I gave this one a miss. You could replace them with lobotomised gorillas and as long as someone had taught them how to yell four letter words nobody would tell the difference.
We played some good football up until the Leeds goal and then our game turned into hopeful punts forward. I don't think Mick likes Taylor much, I certainly would've brought him on instead of Nouble, who in all honesty looked a bit of a donkey today. Edwards was ineffective with poor corners, Anderson's deliveries looked better. Not sure if we should start with the same eleven in our next game but saying that we played some great, on the ground stuff in those first twenty minutes. Tunnicliffe looks like he could be good next to Skuse in the middle. Another deflection has cost us points again but at least McG looked like getting amongst the goals.
Thoughts..... First of all, many thanks for the streams people - flew along very nicely!!!! As for the game, great stuff at 1-0, game should have been buried. At 1-0, you always leave yourself exposed. VERY lucky how it fell to Varney for their goal, however, as stated being 1 ahead you always run that risk. The second Leeds goal was horrific by Loach. Now he for me is starting to irritate somewhat. I know the goal at Reading took a deflection, however, not sure why he was off his line. For me, he is definitely costing us goals. A good keeper makes such a massive difference. Confidence from the team seemed to evaporate at 2-1 Leeds. I couldn't see where on earth the equaliser was coming from - frankly, it wasn't. Players to me, that really do not inspire me / concern me at present. - Loach........ - Hyam - Not offering a great deal, and could certainly do with being dropped. I like him, however, needs to have a week out, come back on off the bench and perform. - Edwards - I prefered him at full back personally, though when he played their we had a very dodgy CB partnership - NEVER takes his man on, always comes inside.......... poor. - Murphy - Wasn't impressed with him at Reading, and again today, not hugely. Not a bad player, a decent squad player, however, is he going to score many/ bang many assists in? Not sure - need better. Happy with the other 7/11 of the lineup however. For me, something needs to change regarding the other four. - Would love to see Henderson back on a season loan if we could organise it, or bid for someone else. - Tunicliffe NEEDS to start next game DESPERATELY. Did quite well when he came on. That's 4 defeats from 5 from the current bunch!!!! Early days sure, however, I feel we could perhaps do with investing in a late player or two. Is there money available, or is McCarthy's hands tied? I think we're very lucky to have this manager, I just wish he was being backed how Magilton/ Keane were.
Agree Thought that when he came on he really livened things up, although we were chasing it at that point... Showed his Man U credentials today, the boy looked good, I thought...
Tuncliffe or Tabb need to play centrally or perhaps both as a partnership?? Either that or we need to change formation?? Perhaps a diamond 442 or a 433: ---------------Loach Hewitt, Chambers, Smith, Cresswell --------------Skuse -------Tunicliffe--Tabb ----------Wordsworth -----McGoldrick, Murphy
