I think that at the moment you have to say that Tottenham are in much better shape than Arsenal. They have not had any major departures and have added quality to their midfield and the much needed quality striker in Adebayor. Hanging on to Modric was a big plus and VDV is still to come. Arsenal on the other hand have experienced a major upheaval and need games to get used to playing with each other and seem in complete disarray at the back. Comparing teams now, maybe you could say that Tottenham are better. Comparing player for player its a closer call. As always with football time will tell..
Talk about a group of people: "The Conservative party is in decline" when referring to the single entity. When referring to a group of people "The Conservative party are in decline". But we are not talking about the group of people of Tottenham football club, we are talking about the single entity and whether or not they are the new power base of North London. Had we been talking about an individual game, we would say Tottenham - they had a good game, referencing the plural because we are now talking about a group of players. It all makes perfect sense to me, but I think poor/lazy grammar is robbing us of our beautiful language !
Yeah, that's probably a fair comment. I think the major difference between our two teams is just that...we are a team. You guys are in complete disarray at the moment, and just don't seem to be working as a complete unit. That is hardly surprising given the massive disruptions you've suffered over the Summer. The key factor for you is how quickly you are able to adjust. LFC has discovered that it takes more than a season to recover from that kind of disruption. The one thing that has marked successful Arsenal teams of the past, is the fact that they players tended to remain at your club. You were never a selling club. Good players went to you and stayed there, and the team grew in stature over the course of many seasons of playing together. Is it really any wonder that you are having the worst start to a season in the history of the EPL?
I cant believe what i'm seeing, a literacy discussion from gooner fans. I laughed i nearly bought a round.
Singular = is Plural = are as they are a collection of tossers (plural) it should be 'are'. Anyway, no matter what grammar is deemed to be correct, the answer is an emphatic NO!
A classic thread right here people, thought I would bump it to give you a laugh, some classic WUMS such as HIAG and adam bannana, comedy gold
a very sensible approach . Given that we had this very point put forward at our most disastrous start to a season for 53 years , last year , by certain people who dont need to be named , and STILL beat spurs to 4th spot . Ony a complete dullard , would make such an assertion after winning one game . But we all know who that dullard would most likely be .
see what i did there .? But go ahead , base our entire season on one result , why change the habits of a lifetime . tool . same old HIAG , shouting his gob off before the fat lady has even got out of the taxi at the stage door of the opera. You embarass your fellow spurs fans .
Let them have the title! It'll be a win win for us. They fail to live up to it and it'll be hilarious come end of season. They live up to it and its expected so we don't really 'lose out' on anything as such. Means more at the end of the season anyways.
lol , the retro threads are the best dont you think ? i didnt bump it , i just posted on it . I thought it was highly strange that the cretin had been allowed to post here . haw haw haw.! oh god ...i gotta stop sniffing that ajax.
