That's a guaranteed way of getting the permit. Alternatively if you can prove the player has a special talent it may also be given on that basis. 6 arsenal players have been refused in that basis and only our gk Martinez was granted one. However chlelsea and utd always seem to be give one (Ramirez, piazon, Oscar)

It's modern football. Just the way things are. Chelsea can do I to most teams. Liverpool, spurs (Dempsey, Sigurdsson come to mind), arsenal do it when they can. Just that as matters stand chelsea are best placed though what Mourinho said certainly lacked class but its more of reflection of his, personality than anything else.

I don't get the thing with class in football it's a ruthless game.mOn different occasions, AVB didn't think twice about crossing a former colleague in Brendan Rodgers, just as Mourinho didn't think twice about doing the same to AVB. Don't hate the player, hate the game. This is football, sadly.

AVB has made numerous subliminal digs at Chelsea FC

You've missed the point entirely. It's not the crossing that is the issue it's the childish sniggering in the press conference

It's something Mourinho has always done (In England), have a laugh and joke with journalists. Why only now is it a problem?

I've said all along I feel Willian should have chosen Spurs over Chelsea but people taking it out on Mourinho is myopic.

It really doesn't sound like AVB <doh>

In the end they did turn on Balotelli(like with Suarez after the biting) but he got away with a lot with the media preferring to take the "oh Mario..." line whenever he did something stupid, dangerous or just twattish. No surprises here but we totally disagree.

So because he has always done it that makes it non-classless? Do me a favour, he's a poor winner and that is worse than being a poor loser and is poor form full stop. If you can't see that then add yourself to the list

When? Over Sigurdsson who signed a day after AVB got the job? I'm sure he had a say but there's no suggestion he screwed anyone over. Same with Dempsey, Liverpool tried to haggle the fee down so we paid what Fulham wanted after our Moutinho signing fell through. Or are you talking about this deal with Willian? AVB was the one who brought him to Chelsea's attention and then Spurs' last summer as we tried to sign him, by your logic Rodgers was screwing AVB over when he made an enquiry about Soldado.

There's no suggestion of Mourinho screwing AVB over here either. Just Chelsea doing the same old same, same old.

It is that's why the media never took to him. We'll have to agree to disagree but I think you're wide off the mark with Balotelli. He was no less volatile than Rooney when both were of a tender age but yet with Rooney it was always "He'll grow out of it, he's still young" yet Balotelli was cited as a disruptive influence and front paged for any training ground bust up involving teammates whether he was in the right of wrong.

After AVB was announced, not after he was given the job. He'd have most likely been consulted before it became official. He'd have also had a say with Dempsey and Willian. He's done it to Rodgers before, just as Redknapp did before him with Wenger's transfer targets. It's part of the game, not saying it's right but that's just the way it is. Happened to us with Robinho, happened to City with Berbatov.

The media didn't take to Villas-Boas because he doesn't give them anything. Every question is given a diplomatic reply and there's no attempt at mind games.

Mourinho, on the other hand, is a flamboyant showman. He'll talk about anything and is constantly looking for an edge.
The media love him because he writes their press for them. He's very similar to Redknapp, in that respect. Both are good for the media, so the media are good to them.
The Spanish didn't take to him though, did they? Found him to be petulant, hypocritical and ill-mannered.

See you next Tuesday Mourinho! There,I said it without saying it!!!!!!

Almost as nasty as that Liverpool chairman voting Arsenal into the first division and voting Spurs out!
I wonder if the Russian promised the player an oilwell as a back hander????

I've literally no idea what you're on about now. Going for a player that someone else wanted is not screwing them over.

He wasn't so mouthy when his honeymoon period at Real Madrid ended. Once he wasn't meeting the expectations of the club, fans and media, he wasn't so much joking and sniggering as snapping and snarling. Abramovich isn't quite as impatient as those in charge at Real, but he's not far behind. We might see a different Mourinho when the bubble bursts. He still has Cech, Terry,Lampard and Essien - but all past their best; he doesn't have Drogba, Makelele and Carvalho. Chelsea have been a long way off the pace in the past two seasons (despite a good start last time) so for all the triumphalism already, Mourinho has a lot to prove.

The media didn't take to Mourinho straight away, he was much maligned at first and there's still a large contingent of anti-Mourinho journalists in the press. Mourinho indirectly went after the press by saying things like "When Chelsea lose, it's a national holiday for everybody in the country", AVB directly went after them with his press conference following the win against Valencia.

You are right in the sense that AVB is far more introvert and not a showman like Mourinho. Everybody knew the Mourinho act wouldn't last, he loves the headlines, hasn't changed at all. AVB is less media savvy and doesn't like the media attention so when attacked, he often panicked and came out with ridiculous retorts.

Beating us to a player at the 11th hour is annoying but fair enough. Acting like a classless twat by joking around at the other club's expense afterwards isn't <ok>

I could just as easily say United don't have Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez, Scholes, Neville with Ferdinand, Vidic and Giggs being past their best. We may not have any of the players you mention but we do have Mata, Hazard, Ramires, Luiz, Oscar and Lukaku.

We've been a long way off the pace because we haven't had a squad. That explains why we've done better in he cups in recent years.

I do agree that he has a lot to prove after his stint at Madrid where he definitely underwhelmed.

P.S If you think Cech is past his best you clearly don't watch football
