David Burns ‏@bbcburnsy 12m MD Nick Thompson tells Hull branch @HCOSC_Official that Tiger Air and Tiger Insurance amongst companies showing interest in Tigers. #hcafc. Now, if one of these companies were to sponsor us; could mean we can end up saying Arrivederchi to Cash Converters. However, if our badge font resembles the TigerAir font, I think I'll just bang my head against a brick wall. Also, Burnsy just called me snappy. Hmmmm
Anything Tigers/Hull related would always be good for Sponsorship! Looks much better on the shirt then 'Cash Converters' 'Totesport' etc. 'Tiger Beer' 'Tiger Air' 'Tiger Insurance' would all be good on a top!
No. It means that amongst the companies interested in sponsoring us since we got promoted some have a Tigers link.
Doubt if this even gets a mention in the HDM, or even Nick Thompson opinion of it all. HDM will be advertising the demonstration because that is what Phil Buckingham wants, and you'll all dance along to the tune played by the Pied Piper of Sunderland.
Why should it get a mention in the HDM. First of all they are only interested nothing has been signed by either. I am sure if any of them go through it will get mentioned in the HDM. The demonstration is going through though so deserves a mention. The interest shown by these two will of been registered when we got promoted NOT when we changed the name but of course the management will want you to believe the name change is responsible which IT IS NOT.
Is this going to descend into another thread about the name change? I'd like a Tiger themed sponsor; where do tiger air fly to? Are they Asian or African (just guessing because of the name!)?
They are the Singapore version of Easy Jet i.e. Budget Airline. It will only become another thread about the name change if the supporters of the change actually believe all the bollocks that Management are putting out that all the sudden interest is due to the change of name.I'd like a tiger themed sponser as well, but I would prefer TIGER BEER
Omgomgomg proper tiger stripes and..wait a sec, what's wrong with the font? Fontist! It's a massive improvement on what we've got adorning our shirts now! It means, by the looks of it, the commercial name change and our marketing team are actually reaching out and hopefully having success with with new companies. Hurrah!
Cash Converters are gone at the end of this season, so we're obviously going to be looking for a new sponsor already. I suspect Phil Buckingham(who is by far the best City reporter at our local rag in years) will pick up on the fact that last night Nick Thompson inserted the caveat 'as far as I'm aware' when answering questions relating to the name change. Burnsy's trying to get him in front of a mic for Saturday to ask him why Hull City Tigers is appearing on fixture lists and on away match ticket applications.
It means he's throwing out stories to make people think precisely that. Have we ever in our history named any companies "interested" in supporting us before they actually have? What does "interested" even mean?
...and surely they'd have been more interested in The Tigers anyway (as we've always been) had it not just attracted so much ****e, negative publicity in the International media due to almost unanimous rejection and ridicule of the non-name change and denials.
It means its got you lot worried. You were quick to deride anything that would bring in outside investment.....we'd only be trying to sell dodgy city shirts in a Singapore market......that the faintest possibility of outside investment being associated with the 'Tiger' brand has you all worried. Personally I think this is nothing to do with re-branding, but Papa Allam said getting rid of AFC has nothing to do with re-branding, just getting rid of 3 useless letters that I have never needed to use in the 50 years I've supported 'Hull City' or the 'Tigers'.
